The past few days have been a wild time for EPCOT!
The park’s lengthy transformation is coming to a close, and some of the construction walls came down to reveal EPCOT’s all-new World Celebration Gardens as well as the Walt the Dreamer statue. Oh, and did we mention that Luminous, The Symphony of Us debuted on December 5th as well? With all these fun things happening, we did start to feel a bit greedy and anticipate the opening of CommuniCore Hall and Plaza — which was set to debut in late 2023 — or so we thought.
The new area will serve as a central location for EPCOT’s rotating festivals throughout the year, providing a communal space to celebrate rather than having to trek around the whole park. While CommuniCore was previously set to open in late 2023, Disney has now confirmed that it will open in 2024.
Disney said in a press release regarding the official opening of the new EPCOT additions, “The beautiful greenspaces throughout the World Celebration Gardens will feature ample seating and shade, as well as a central planter based on the five-rings of the iconic EPCOT logo. Guests will be invited to connect with one another and the nature around them in this lush new area. Each of the garden spaces will have their own identities and change with the EPCOT festivals throughout the year. CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza will make their debut in 2024.“
While this is disappointing news, we’re holding on to the fact that 2024 is just around the corner. Although Disney hasn’t confirmed WHEN in 2024 the festival area will open, our fingers are crossed that there’s a chance CommuniCore will debut in time for the 2024 International Festival of the Arts, which is set to start on January 12th.
What do you think? Are we too hopeful?! We’ll continue to keep you all up to date with more Disney news, so make sure to follow along for more so that you’re always in the loop.
