We’ve finally got an UPDATE on the new Disney Vacation Club Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort.
Earlier this year, Disney broke the news that the Cabins at Fort Wilderness would be getting a makeover. So far, Disney hasn’t shared much else about the project, but now we have an important update.
Back in April 2023, Disney shared concept art for its newly redesigned DVC Fort Wilderness Cabins. The proposal called for over 350 refreshed cabins to replace the existing cabins at the resort.
Like the other Disney Vacation Club properties, Disney stated that the proposed cabins will be open for reservations to all guests, including those who are not Disney Vacation Club Members. The original concept art featured sleek, modern cabins, which Disney explained are “inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling.”
Disney also noted that the cabins will sleep up to six adults and feature a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio. A select number of cabins will also be dog-friendly. Below, you can see what the unrefurbished cabins look like. (This is the “BEFORE”)
Recently, Disney shared a NEW look at the DVC Cabins during the annual DVC Condo Association Meeting. In fact, Disney unveiled some NEW concept art as well as a new logo. (This is the “AFTER”)
Here’s a closer look at the proposed interior renovations. We see what looks to be a Murphy bed, a dining area, a small kitchen, and a bedroom.
Disney also shared an artist rendering (marked “Subject to change”) of another bedroom. We spy some Mickey Mouse-inspired pillows and a woodland mural! Plus, it looks like Chip and Dale made an appearance on the wall.
Here’s a closer look at the new Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort logo, too, via @TheDVCShow on Twitter/X.
Disney noted that the new Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will open in the summer of 2024. We’ll be sure to keep our eyes out for additional updates, so stay tuned for more Disney news!

Wow… thanks for the preview! Look at how narrow that dining table is. And I’m not digging that it’s free-standing. The half-booth style table seating was one of the best things about the cabins. But, maybe, this means you can move around more of furniture if it suits your party to do so. It looks like they were possibly trying to make the cabins look and feel more spacious, but they were pretty darn good the way they were. I hope those ceilings are not too ‘lofty’ either – those cabins could get darn cold on winter nights if you didn’t crank the heat way up, which I’m sure Disney doesn’t appreciate. They do look a little lighter and brighter, which is a plus, but I wouldn’t have given up the classic cabins for it. It also looks like everyone will be craning their necks to look sideways at the living area TV, which is a weird choice, but I guess technically is the same as before. The hcountertops don’t seem wide enough to accomodate a dishwasher, I hope they’re not losing that amenity or the other full sized kitchen appliances the cabins have now (considering the price will be going up). It doesn’t seem like there are plans to add a washer/dryer, which I hope means that the price won’t be as high as other DVC one-bedrooms, which typically do have washer-dryers. But I won’t worry too much until I see if we’re priced out by this change or not!

Oh! and I hope there’s more closet space. I will say the existing layout has a ridiculosuly tiny closet, given 6 people technically could be in there. If there’s the same or less closet/drawer space, and the appliances are downsized, that will proably mean the end of cabin stays for us.

The outside looks like a trailer on a construction site…
