Are you a true blue die-hard Disney fan? We’ve got a way for you to prove it!
A while back, Disney announced a plan to build several themed neighborhoods throughout the U.S. These Storyliving by Disney communities come with fancy amenities and even fancier houses, so if you want to move in, you’ll have to shell out some serious dough. The most recent addition to the lineup is a new community in North Carolina…but will you be able to afford living there?
Storyliving by Disney took to Instagram to reveal their newest location to be added to the community lineup. North Carolina has been chosen as the newest state to receive an exclusive neighborhood with all the Disney touches. The community will be called Asteria and will be located in Pittsboro, North Carolina, which is near Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Construction for Asteria is expected to begin soon, with sales available by 2027.
The Asteria community will offer its future residents “distinctive Disney placemaking and outstanding customer service” contributed by the creative minds of Disney Imagineers. Currently, there are plans for more than 4,000 residential units in single-family and multi-family homes, with several of those sites planned for 55+ adults.
So how much will these homes cost? Disney hasn’t released prices yet, but we can infer a little based on prices already listed for homes in their other planned community — Cotino. Cotino is located in Rancho Mirage, California, where the average home price is about $883,199, according to Zillow. The homes in Cotino look like they’re going to be above the market average, as Disney’s website shares that homes in the Cottage Collection and Longtable Park sections of the community will have starting prices in the upper $1 million range. For the Grand Collection at Cotino, you can expect starting prices in the upper $2 million range.
However, homes in Pittsboro, North Carolina seem to be more affordable than those in California. Zillow reports that the average price of a home in that city is currently $534,931.
If we do the math and guess that the Cotino homes will start around $1.75 million, then Cotino homes are 98.14% more expensive than the average market price.
Applying that same percentage increase to Pittsboro gives us an estimated price for Asteria of around $1.05 million. And that number would just be the STARTING price! So if you’re ready to shell out at least a cool mil on a home, you can start planning to move to NC.

They’re priced like Southern California homes. I guess they only want certain people to buy and live there.

Pittsboro has always been a hidden gem in NC. It’s no wonder Disney would choose it for their development.
