André Braugher, actor and star of Homicide: Life On The Street and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has passed away at age 61, Deadline reports.
The actor died on Monday, December 11th, 2024 after a brief illness.
Braugher was a two-time Emmy winning actor and best known for his roles on Homicide: Life on the Street, Men of a Certain Age, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, where he portrayed police Captain Raymond Holt.
On Homicide: Life on the Street, Braugher played Detective Frank Pembleton, where week after week audiences saw him outsmarting suspects in the interrogation room. Braugher’s wife, Ami Brabson, also had a recurring role as his wife on Homicide.
He was born and raised in Chicago, and later earned a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.F.A. from Juilliard. He was set to star in Residence, a Netflix show, as his next project.
Braugher is survived by Ami Brabson, his wife of 32 years, sons Michael, Isaiah, and John Wesley; his brother Charles Jennings; and their mother Sally Braugher. He also leaves behind WME agent Brandt Joel, attorney Keith Klevan, and his publicist Jennifer Allen of Viewpoint, his rep team for the past 25 years.
