From time to time, you’ll see construction and refurbishments going on at different hotels around Disney World.
Disney works hard at keeping their hotels updated and looking nice. They want you to feel like you’re at home away from home. We’ve seen a lot of work going on at hotels like Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs, and Disney’s Beach Club. These hotels have been getting some re-theming and upgrading to their rooms. But there’s one hotel that comes to mind when we think about which hotels have not gotten much love recently.
Today, we’re going to be talking about Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. If you’re not familiar with this hotel or just want to learn more general info about it, check out our video below!
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is tucked away near Disney Springs. Its theme is “inspired by historic Saratoga Springs– a late-1800s New York retreat famous for its spas and horse racing.” You can find a variety of room options at the hotel including studios that sleep up to 4 adults or villas that can sleep anywhere between 5 and 9 adults.
The resort is quite large and spread out, similar to Disney’s Coronado Springs and Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts. So depending on where you stay at the hotel, you may have a long walk or bus ride to and from your room. And speaking of rooms, there is a set of rooms (villas, actually) that we think could use some updating.
If Disney is taking so much time to hand out room updates, it might be worth it for them, to spend some quality time on the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs. These Treehouses can be rented through Disney or by using Disney Vacation Club points. They are definitely on the pricey side, though, and require larger amounts of points than what you may see at other DVC hotels.
If you look at a map, you’ll find the 60 Treehouse Villas on the far left side of the resort area. It almost looks like a campground, but instead of campsites, you’ll find large, stilted, 10 feet off-the-ground treehouses.
Looking on the outside, you may notice that the treehouses seem a little outdated and like they’ve truly become one with the forest. They are a cool concept and can sleep up to 9 adults. These villas may be worth getting if you’re planning to go to Disney World with a large group and you’ll be splitting the cost. Or you could consider renting DVC points to get the room a little cheaper (we recommend using David’s DVC Rentals!)
The treehouses are a good walk from the main resort and lobby, so you’ll definitely want to be prepared for that! On the inside, you’ll find what may be considered typical cabin decor. There’s lots of wood and outdoorsy patterns.
It can kind of give 1990s/early 2000s vibes. The typical amenities for a villa/suite can be found in the treehouses, which is very useful. You even get a full kitchen! If you choose to cook your own meals, this could save you some money on your trip. They also feature three bedrooms, full living room areas, and an outdoor patio.
But as great and spacious as these treehouses are, they could use a little love. An update here would be great! We could see a Disney theme getting added instead of the basic “cabin” atmosphere they currently have. There are lots of great characters and movies that could add some fun charm to the villas.
We actually spoke to a Cast Member recently about the treehouses and their lack of current updates. She was very friendly and confirmed that they have not been renovated. However, she also said she wouldn’t be surprised if they did see some changes within the next couple of years. (Disney has NOT confirmed or mentioned this as of now.) She also agreed with us that they definitely need the attention.
The Treehouse Villas come with their own pool area and boat dock for easy access to transportation. The boats here can take you to other area resorts or Disney Springs, which is super convenient. As much as these villas need a renovation, they are still very neat places to stay! If you want to feel a little more secluded in a quiet environment after a full day in a Disney park, these might be for you. Or, if you just want to feel more like Tarzan, check these out!

Why? So they can take out all of the theming and turn it into something that looks like a Holiday Inn? I get nervous now whenever they renovate or refurbish anything because they take out the Disney touches that used to make the hotels unique.
