Have you heard of “Roku City”? It’s the screensaver that pops up on Roku TVs if you let the television idle for long enough. It’s oddly addicting to watch the buildings roll by (especially since there are lots of hidden Easter eggs for popular movies and shows sprinkled in!), and now there’s a NEW addition to the city!
Roku began teasing a collaboration with Disney on the Roku city screen over the weekend. A section of the city was updated to show a construction fence that said “Pardon our Pixie Dust” — just like you see sometimes in the Disney parks when Imagineers are updating or building new attractions. Now, the new Disney addition has been revealed!Â
Here’s a look at the construction fence that we spotted over the weekend:
Now, the new addition has been revealed! Cinderella Castle has joined Roku City, and it might just be one of the best things we’ve seen all week.
Not only is there Cinderella Castle, but you can also see the Partners Statue and Tinker Bell.Â
This is an exciting update to the already-iconic Roku city.
According to the New York Times, the Roku screen saver was originally commissioned to a former freelance graphic artist — Kyle Jones — who now works at Pixar! Pretty cool connection, right? Apparently, Roku wanted a screen saver that could be filled with advertising for new movies and TV shows but would also be fun to watch. So, Jones created this virtual city that’s filled with billboards and Hollywood references, and now — some MAGIC.Â
So… is this collaboration with Disney a hint that we can expect MORE from Disney and Roku soon? Or is this the big reveal? We’ll just have to wait and see!Â

Does anyone know how to “upgrade” their Roku City to get the Disney features? Mine has remained the standard city with no changes. I checked to make sure I have up-to-date software, etc. And still, not changes. I’m bummed.
