Disney World has a TON of rides throughout its four theme parks.
There are kids’ rides, family rides, and thrill rides. There’s a ride for nearly everybody to enjoy. But with so many rides comes a lot of upkeep. Disney has to make sure each of its rides is safe and working properly. And once in a while, they’ll get new things added to them or just some good updating. Well, we noticed that one ride will be down for quite a while starting this coming January.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Hollywood Studios is a fun, fast-paced coaster that features music (and a pre-ride show) by Aerosmith. And we saw that, starting January 8th, 2024, the ride does not have any open times available.
The closure continues all the way until February 18th! The dates after February 18th are grayed out still, so we can’t see beyond that date, which makes it entirely possible that the closure will go longer than the February 18th date.
UPDATE: Disney has updated the webpage with a note that says Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will open in the summer of 2024.
This lengthy closure is probably due to some refurbishments being made to the coaster. It could be a routine maintenance check or a minor update. We’ll just have to wait to find out!
The timing of the closure is a little unfortunate, though, as January 8th is the day right before park reservations and park hopping change. So that will be one less ride for us to enjoy when we hop over to Hollywood Studios– be sure to keep that in mind! We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for updates on the refurbishment journey Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is about to have.
Until then, keep following DFB for more Disney news!

I think we all hope that eventually Disney will realize that this one needs re-themed. What was once a great ride has become overshadowed with a very dated theme. A very large percentage of visitors have no recollection of Aerosmith. In reality I don’t think that Aerosmith was ever the magnitude to warrant a ride (and I grew up with the music), but they weren’t the first choice for Disney. A theme is needed that’s more timeless.

I’d wish they re-theme it to the “Avengers Assemble: Flight Force” like they did in Paris. I love Aerosmith, but they are so 3 dacades ago and irrelevant in today’s music scene.

I am gutted! After waiting 20 years to get back to Disney, I return on the 9th Jan, having told my children and Husband all about this ride – I could cry!

I’m very upset!! That is my favorite ride in Disney and I will be there 1/21. I disagree with whoever Made the comment it needs to be changed because they don’t like Aerosmith. They are iconic and to me that adds to the ride to listen to their awesome music while flipping upside down and going 0 to 60. I’m going to be sad when we get to Hollywood studios.

So when Disney says,”summer 2024” does that include May? Many American schools are done in May. Fingers crossed because that is when I go
