Imagine going on a nine-month-long vacation. Sounds pretty awesome, right?
Now, imagine that nine-month-long vacation is actually a cruise, and you’re stuck on the same boat with the same 1,000 strangers you don’t know. We’re talking about Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise, of course, and we’re not the only ones. We’re bringing you TikToks that will make you insanely jealous you’re not on the ship — and some that will have you thanking your stars you’re not.
Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise has officially been underway for a couple of weeks, and thanks to TikTok we’ve got our first look into what this extended vacation is actually like.
The cruise includes a 274-night vacation around the world, visiting all 7 continents, 65 countries, over 150 ports of call, 18 overnights, and 11 World Wonders. It sounds like a whirlwind experience — but let’s see what it’s really like.
Wish You Were Here
Let’s kick things off with a tour, shall we? The Ultimate World Cruise takes place aboard Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas, and it’s a lovely ship by the looks of it. There are dining locations, shops, a medical office, and so much more.

We have to talk about the food, of course, and this breakfast looks quite excellent! There are fresh danishes, pastries, doughnuts, omelets, eggs, bacon, sausage — basically anything you’d expect to see at a breakfast buffet. The options change every day (which should hopefully help keep you from feeling bored!), and you might even find some specials from time to time like avocado toast.

Two words: Cruise Dad. Joe has taken TikTok by storm — he’s a passenger on the ship, traveling with his wife, and he’s been providing updates along the way. Who wouldn’t want to hang out with Cruise Dad? But on a more serious note, did you happen to notice the killer view behind him?! That’s reason enough for us.

Take a look at what a port day might look like on this cruise — this one just so happens to be in Barbados! Wake up, have breakfast, explore a tropical island, have some lunch, chill at the beach…sounds pretty enticing.

Okay, Royal Caribbean, we see you with your Disco Night! The cruise promises a ton of activities so you’re hopefully never bored, and we love the commitment to the theming.

But, it can’t all be sunshine and rainbows, right?
Glad You Stayed Home
If nine months sounds like too long to be on a cruise — you’re not alone. Apparently, the first passenger had already decided to leave the ship just 11 days into the 274-night-long voyage. According to Cruise Dad Joe, the passenger injured his back and had to depart the trip.
@yourdatingtipbestie #greenscreen #greenscreenvideo We got some major tea on the World Cruise! This bingo card is moving fast. 🥹 Thanks to our new favortie cruise dad @joe for keeping us in the loop. 😌 #worldcruise #cruiseshiplife #cruiseship #worldcruise2023 #lifeatsea #royalcaribbean #cruisetok #ultimateworldcruise
Another passenger, Brandee, has been having a less-than-stellar experience for a different and disturbing reason. On one of her first days onboard the ship, she was reportedly mistaken for a crew member by another passenger, and after explaining that she wasn’t a crew member she was then apparently asked if she was “independently wealthy.” Brandee reported a similar scenario occurring yet again, but this time it was a crew member who thought she was another employee.
@iambrandeelake The first few days definitely had some bumps… Apparently it seemed far fetched to some that a Black woman (and family) could be a guest on the once in a lifetime experience. #ultimateworldcruise #serenadeoftheseas #aroundtheworldcruise #RoyalCaribbean #melaninatsea #blackworldcruiser
And, finally, while this guy isn’t personally on the ship — we can’t help but think he’s making some pretty stellar points about the entire concept of the Ultimate World Cruise.
@andr3wsky Imagine spending 9 months trapped with hundreds of people who think that a 9 month long cruise is a good idea
