Disney and The Make-A-Wish Foundation often team up to help make dreams come true for children with critical illnesses.
Disney even has an Amazon store with merchandise from its most recent movie Wish to help support the cause. Disney also often has giveaways to help Make-A-Wish. Disney also often releases special merchandise collections to benefit Make-A-Wish. Well, now, we’ve got an example to share with you of how those funds raised go to help kids.
Recently, Good Morning America highlighted one of the kids that Disney and Make-A-Wish has helped. His name is PJ, and he’s always wanted to be an actor.
At the age of 11, though, PJ was diagnosed with a form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. However, because the doctors found the cancer early enough, they and PJ remain optimistic. PJ wished to visit the set of one of his favorite TV shows, Black-ish on ABC (which is owned by Disney). Disney and Make-A-Wish made that dream a reality.
PJ got to visit the set of the show, as well as meet its stars and hang out with them. He even got a few pairs of sneakers in the process. You can watch PJ’s Make-A-Wish story in the video below.
Disney recently celebrated a historic year of granting wishes with Make-A-Wish and reached a milestone of having made more than 150,000 wishes come true for children since 1980. Also, Josh D’Amaro, Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, recently joined the Make-A-Wish America Board of Directors.
If you would like to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, you can donate directly through the charity’s website or keep an eye out for more opportunities with Disney to support the organization. We’ll let you know when any of those opportunities pop up, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
