Love it or hate it, Genie+ seems to be here to stay — at least for now.
We’ve seen the skip-the-line service go through quite a few updates, and it even reached its highest price ever in Disney World over Christmas week. But, over in Disneyland, it’s actually good news to report on Genie+ for once — another ride is being added to the service!
Guess what, Disneyland fans! As of January 22nd, 2024, Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland Park will temporarily be available on Genie+!Â
NEW: Starting Monday, Jan. 22, Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Park will be *temporarily* added to Genie+ while nearby attractions undergo refurbishment. pic.twitter.com/7fduzWUemF

This will be the case “while nearby attractions are refurbished.” Multiple Disneyland attractions will be undergoing refurbishment in 2024, so this will help spread out the people throughout the park.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates that might impact your Disneyland trip, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for the latest news from Disneyland and more!

Thanks for this interesting/surprising update! I’m not a fan of Genie+, but I can see that something should be done about crowd control for Pirates. Where the line spills out on the walkway in front of the main queue entrance (pictured) get’s kind of nuts on any given Tuesday, but it’s CRAZY crowded when the Cast Members begin to set up the ropes for Fantastic! It’s hard to move any direction even with the footbridge over the main queue entrance open since it’s a perfect storm of foot traffic confluence between Adventureland, Frontierland and New Orleans Square. In close to 50 years of visits, the only time I’ve come close to kind of freaking out/panicking was when I got physically stuck, jammed between people on all sides so that I couldn’t move any direction, right there. No one could move anywhere and we just kept getting more packed together, a la trash compactor scene in Star Wars, but without C3PO to save us. So, maybe Genie+ will help with all of this. I hope so :).

I’m just relieved it’s temporary…

Genie+ one of the biggest dollar grabs that Disney has ever made. Used it twice and for the price refuse to ever use it again. Disney is lucky that my wife and granddaughters are fans, or I would sell all of my DVC ownership interest and never return. WDW used to be my haven from the rest of the world but now it such a blatant money grab with declining services. Everything is so vastly overpriced it is not even funny.

All this is doing is just inevitably increasing wait times for both lines. More especially the standard line for people who can’t spring for the extra cost of genie+. Let’s continue to create two classes of people, the haves and the have nots. While the haves blurt out the standard line of ( Don’t like it, stay home!)
This has become all too common place at both Disneyland and Disney World. The degree of entitlement is absolutely abhorrent. And the degree of greed at Disney is even worse.

The fact that they turned the “Disney Difference” into a glorified money grab is turning us “common folks” over to the competition. Definitely looking into more Universal trips, or one of the other parks in the area…
