Although things usually quiet down a little in Disney World in January, this upcoming January could be a little different.
That’s because a lot of things are RETURNING to Disney World for the first time since 2020 on January 9th. Park pass reservations are going to be a thing of the past for almost all visitors. The Disney Dining Plan is coming back. All-day park hopping is returning. But something interesting is happening before that.
The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend kicks off on January 4th and ends on January 7th. So we already know that could be a very busy time at the resort. But just how busy? Well, we were checking park pass reservations (which don’t end until a few days AFTER the marathon) and they’re completely sold out on January 6th for Magic Kingdom.
If you’re a Disney World Annual Passholder, you’ll notice that Magic Kingdom has no park pass reservations for both January 5th AND 6th.
This tells us a few things. First, if you had plans to go to Magic Kingdom on January 6th, but did NOT make a park pass reservation, you can’t visit that park. Second, if you did manage to score a park pass reservation for Magic Kingdom on that date, you’ll want to prepare for crowds on that day. This means you might want to consider purchasing Genie+ to avoid long ride lines.
We’ll be interested in seeing how crowds and capacity are handled on January 9th and after when park pass reservations are no longer required for Disney World visitors with a date-based ticket. We’ll be keeping an eye on EVERYTHING in Disney World, though, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

I have an Annual Passholder Bonus reservation for Magic Kingdom on January 6th so maybe there’s an error in the system somewhere, or the park is full of APs 🙂
