Is Disney’s Boardwalk Inn at the top of your list for a 2024 Disney World stay?
We can certainly see why. Not only can you literally WALK to EPCOT from the hotel, but it’s also near the EPCOT Skyliner. Plus you have great dining options all around because you’re also within walking distance of several other hotels. But before you book that stay at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, we’ve got to warn you about a few things.
Now, don’t get us wrong, Boardwalk Inn is a fantastic Disney deluxe hotel, but right now, some things are going on there that you need to know about.
Construction
Okay, so a LOT of this hotel is under construction right now. Not only are several restaurants coming to the hotel’s area (we’ll get to that in a bit), but the hotel is still in the middle of a refurbishment that includes new carpet, hallways, and decor throughout.
On top of that, many of the Boardwalk’s rooms are currently getting refreshed. Let’s just say that you are probably bound to hear construction noise during daytime hours if you stay there. This could also mean that not ALL rooms at the hotel will be available for booking at certain times while they’re being worked on.

Restaurant Construction and Delays
Some old dining locations have closed at the Boardwalk, including Boardwalk To Go, which is currently under construction to be the new home of Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs (which will be expanding from its Downtown Disney location at Disneyland Resort). Although Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs was expected to open in late 2023, that was delayed until 2024, so construction is still ongoing.
Likewise, the ESPN Club has closed to make way for construction on The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, which also had a previous opening timeline of 2023. That restaurant is also now expected to open in 2024.
Note that both restaurant openings are highly anticipated and could potentially bring crowds to the area when they open, which could also create unexpected problems.

If you still want to stay in the EPCOT area, though, you still have plenty of great choices. You can stay at Disney’s Yacht Club or at Disney’s Beach Club, both of which are close to Disney’s Boardwalk. There’s also the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin — a stay there includes some of the same perks you get at Disney-owned hotels including Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening hours.
We’ll keep you updated on everything going on at Disney World’s hotels and the parks, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

We’re here now, and have had good luck so far with construction noise — we’ve had no trouble, but that could be because I think they are working on the second floor, and we’re on third. (We are some of those slow old people, so we spend a decent amount of time at the resort during the day when construction noise would be problematic.) The second floor signs just went up, blocking off the hallways, so perhaps there will be more noise soon.
Our biggest disappointment was the delay in CakeBake! We can’t WAIT to go there! Just to be safe, we’re not booking again until January *2025*. [Unless Food & Wine tempts us down.]

The Boardwalk is and always will be our # 1 WDW Resort. We have had the best family vacations staying there. We stay in the Villas, not the Inn. I am hoping for all the remodeling projects to be concluded at the Boardwalk this year, 2024.
