We just celebrated one of the most festive times of the year in Disney World!
The parks and hotels were decorated to the nines with beautiful lights, garlands, and trees. Snoap floated in the air and holiday carols filled our ears. We love being in Disney for the holidays. Sadly, it must all come down — we didn’t realize it would be so soon!
Thanks to one of our readers, Caroline, we have heard that Disney has started to take down the beautiful holiday display at Port Orleans French Quarter. We agree, Caroline, it’s SO early!
We realize it’s after January 1st, but couldn’t we have waited just a little bit longer? Our hearts are breaking see the Cast Members tearing it all down.
We’re sorry if that beignet you were eating suddenly tasted like sadness, as you saw it all comedown. We hope the sweet treats helped you feel a little better (food always helps us deal with our emotions)!
But, alas, it is that time, and we’ll probably be seeing this beginning to happen all around Disney World. It’s hard to swallow that sad truth, but at least now we’re all prepared for it!
In the meantime, keep following DFB for Disney news.

The Port Orleans French Quarter has Mardi Gras coming up in February. I’m sure they’re trying to get clear in order to start putting those decorations up!

They should leave all the decorations up til the Twelfth Day of Christmas (January 6th). Keep the holiday spirit going just a bit longer!

Something I learned from a WL cast member – the putting up and taking down of decor depends on that decor’s location in storage. The WL is usually one of the last resorts to be decorated and the first to be taken down because its location in storage is near the back. We were at the WL in mid-November. Parks and most resorts were already Christmasy, but the tree at WL didn’t go up until around Thanksgiving.

In the city were Marci Gras parading societies began-Mobile, Alabama, the Marci Gras tree has been lit! My Marci Gras decorations are up, so Port Orleans should put up theirs as well. I know where they can get some from the place Mardi Gras in the USA began!
