RARE VIDEO: We Watched TWO Disney World Monorails "Race" Each Other!

You can do everything right in Disney World. You can wake up early, successfully join the virtual queue for TRON Lightycycle / Run at 7AM, and arrive bright and early at the Transportation and Ticket Center to rope drop Magic Kingdom. But even if you manage to do everything right, sometimes, things STILL go wrong.

Beep Beep!

Recently, we were all set to arrive in Magic Kingdom first thing in the morning when an unexpected problem totally thwarted our plans. Sigh. Even when we do everything right, some days, things just don’t go our way. Well, the silver lining here is that we got to see something pretty RARE, so, of course, we have to show YOU!

On January 5th, we made it to an express monorail headed straight for Magic Kingdom. But during our short journey to the park, a Cast Member message shared a message that our monorail had to reverse its course BACK to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. According to the Cast Member, the monorail in front of ours was having some issues.

On our way to the Contemporary Resort, we saw something pretty interesting. Ever seen two Disney monorails “racing” each other? We hadn’t either … until today! Both our monorail and the teal monorail next to us were headed in the same direction. How cool, right?

So we then had to reverse and be taken back into Disney’s Contemporary Resort. We were also going much faster than Monorail Teal next to us. 👀 pic.twitter.com/D8xEihYjRG

From there, our journey took a turn. Maybe the plan changed? Maybe there was a traffic issue? Hard to say for certain! But either way, we were then sent BACK to the Transportation and Ticket Center. (So much for rope-dropping Magic Kingdom…)

Phew! Once we got to the Transportation and Ticket Center, everyone was redirected to another monorail. This time, we had to jump on the resort monorail line, meaning we’d have to make stops at the Disney hotels, too. What an ordeal this turned out to be!

About 30 minutes later, we arrived in Magic Kingdom. We’ve got to be honest; it was mildly torturous driving around the same loop over and over again, knowing Magic Kingdom was literally right there. But oh well! This just goes to show you that anything can happen in Disney World, and all you can do is roll with it.

But we’ve made it! It’s always important to have a plan b (and c, really), because you never know what can happen on your morning that’ll be out of your control!

This is a lesson in patience, for sure. But all in all, we only lost about 30 minutes due to the little hiccup, so it really wasn’t so bad! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
