Sometimes, the unexpected can throw a wrench in your Disney World plans.
Today, bad weather has hit the parks. In fact, both of the Disney World counties are currently under a tornado watch.
Both Orange County and Osceola County in Florida are under tornado watches right now, as of 1:50PM on January 9th, 2024. You can continue to monitor the area by clicking here. If you take a look at the image below, the yellow represents the areas currently under a tornado watch.
A tornado watch isn’t too much of a concern unless it becomes a tornado warning. Make sure you’re checking the weather regularly so that you know if that happens.Â
In the Disney World parks today, we definitely experienced some high winds. It’s been overcast pretty much all day as well.
It’s important to make decisions for your vacation based on what makes you feel safe. You can talk with Cast Members to find out where the nearest shelter is to you, and note that Disney World hotels are equipped to handle emergencies and severe weather.
It’s unlikely that Disney will close the parks for today’s weather; however, there will be multiple ride closures if lightning, heavy rain, and strong winds affect the area.Â
According to the hourly forecast, the overcast skies and wind are expected to continue for a few hours. Around 5PM, storms and strong winds may occur. For the remainder of the evening, showers are expected.
The bad weather is expected to clear up around 10PM, with partly cloudy or mostly clear skies for the night.
