When we rode up to Magic Kingdom on the Monorail this morning, we noticed that something looked very DIFFERENT!
The Disney World parks change frequently, with seasonal decorations, new merchandise, and even sometimes new rides and attractions. We visit every single day to make sure that we spot all the changes and let you know about them so that you’re prepared before your next trip. If you’re going to Magic Kingdom soon, be prepared for this subtle but important change!
Disney has been celebrating its 100th anniversary as a company, with events and parties around the world to mark the occasion. In Disney World, the big milestone was marked with decorations at all four theme parks, new outfits for Mickey and the gang, and more.
For the 100th, we saw big platinum “100” signs go up at the Disney World theme parks, but now those decorations are GONE from Magic Kingdom! Previously, the sign was located right at the entrance, in front of the Main Street Train Station. Here’s what it looked like before…
…and here’s the view now that it’s gone.
Also, the Mickey and Minnie holiday topiaries have now been removed. Here’s what they looked like before…
…and here’s that planter now! It’s just filled with flowers now.
This isn’t a huge surprise, as Disney had previously announced that the 100th celebrations would end on December 31st, 2023, so they’re actually a little bit late in taking down the decor.

This change comes right around the same time that the rest of Magic Kingdom’s holiday decorations were taken down, on January 9th.
Magic Kingdom only had a few 100th decorations — most of the party is happening over in EPCOT! EPCOT is the host of the 100th anniversary celebration in Disney World, with a new fireworks show, a 100th-themed Mickey and Minnie meet-and-greet, a platinum Mickey sculpture, and the return of EPCOT’s original Soarin’ attraction, Soarin’ Over California.
We’ll be watching to see when the 100th celebration ends in EPCOT, but so far all of those changes are still going strong.
