We’re really sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
We’ve got a not-so-great update about Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney World, and it has to do with the return of the Disney Dining Plan.
The Disney Dining Plan is BACK, and we’ve noticed lots of changes and updates. It hasn’t been around since before the 2020 pandemic-related closures, so we’re helping you get caught up on everything that’s new in 2024.
One of the biggest changes is that there are several NEW restaurants in Disney World now that weren’t around the last time the Disney Dining Plan was available. We’ve been checking at each spot to see whether they’ll accept the Dining Plan, and we’re sorry to say that we’ve got some bad news for Gideon’s Bakehouse fans.
Gideon’s Bakehouse opened in Disney Springs in late 2020, so it wasn’t around when the Dining Plan was available before. When we reached out to ask them whether we could use our Disney Dining Plan snack credits to buy those delicious cookies and cake slices, we learned that they do NOT accept Dining Plan credits.
However, they reminded us that they DO take Disney gift cards, so if you’re using gift cards to budget for your trip, you can still use them at Gideon’s.
Gideon’s Bakehouse is a third-party vendor (meaning the shop is NOT owned by Disney), so it’s not a complete surprise that they don’t accept Dining Plan credits. It’s possible that their policy could change in the future, but for now, no snack credits.
We’re checking on all the third-party restaurants that have opened since the Dining Plan was suspended. We learned that Space 220 (both the restaurant and lounge) in EPCOT does not accept Dining Plan credits, and neither does Summer House on the Lake in Disney Springs.
EET by Maneet Chauhan doesn’t accept Dining Plan credits either, but a Cast Member there told our reporter that they’re hoping to accept credits “eventually.”

I hope this continues. I like having restaurant options that aren’t as crowded due to this. If people avoid due to dining plans, those who don’t use dining plan have a better chance. Win win.

Do they take the Disney food promo cards?

Dottyanna says
Agree! No big deal. No plans to get the dining plan anyway. Not enough snack credits for me.

This has nothing to do with the dining plan but because of Disney Food Blog I knew about Gideon’s at the East End Market and the last time I was in Orlando I went there for cookies and cake. I did have to wait about 30 minutes but that was way shorter the the wait at Disney Springs. Thanks, DFB!
