Are you ready? Are you excited? Another festival has kicked off in EPCOT!
The 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts runs until February 19th and it has a LOT to offer. Along with the fantastic entertainment, scavenger hunts, and food crawl, you know we’re trying out the food at EVERY single booth. Now it’s time to visit Goshiki near the Japan pavilion to see what they are up to this festival!
Menu
At the Goshiki booth, you’ll find several food and drink options inspired by Japanese cuisine. The iconic Sushi Donut has returned, but there is new food and new drinks to check out this year.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
Before we get into some returning eats, let’s start with the new Wagyu Bun! For $9.75, pick up the dish made with a steamed bun filled with American wagyu beef served with green shiso sauce.
The bun was absolutely delicious with nice, tender meat and a very soft bao. If you’re a fan of cheeseburger pods, you DEFINITELY need to try this, and even if you’re not…you might like this better! Our reporter who tried this actually said she likes it MORE than the cheeseburger pods from Satu’li Canteen.
It’s time, y’all. The Sushi Donut is BACK! It’s a donut-shaped sushi featuring salmon, tuna, shrimp, cucumber, and sesame seed over a decorated plate of wasabi aïoli, sriracha aïoli, and eel sauce for $8.75. In the past, we’ve noticed that it tastes very fresh and it’s typically a super popular item at this festival. So how was it in 2024?
This one is always a classic! Fresh and refreshing, with a good amount of sticky rice. Our one issue was that we think this needs more sauce because the ratio of sauce to sushi was a little off. But that fish? Man it just melts in your mouth.
The last item is something we’re a little less excited about…it’s the Ichigo Mochi – Daifuku. It’s Daifuku mochi filled with fresh strawberry, sweet azuki bean paste, and white chocolate served with strawberry cream for $6.75. Last year, although the flavors were good, the mochi was doughy and chewy. Did it turn out better this year?
If you’re not a mochi fan, you’re definitely not going to enjoy this. And honestly? It wasn’t exactly our favorite thing we had today. It was very doughy and the flavors of strawberry and bean paste didn’t redeem it either.
But what about the drinks?
Drinks
There’s a new drink on the menu this year! It’s called the Murasaki Blueberry Drink and it’s made with sweet blueberry and cream for $6.75. You can also get it spiked with alcohol for $8.50.
This was incredibly sweet and you definitely need to stir it every few minutes or else it’ll separate. Similar vibes to a blended smoothie.
Moving on with the drink menu, the Masu Sake in a traditional personalized wooden cup is back this year! This is a super fun take-home from the festival and it comes with sake to sip on. The best part? It can be personalized with whatever you want! Grab it at the festival this year for $14.50.
You can also grab the Mikan Orange IPA for $5.50 for 6oz.
How does Goshiki stand this year?
OVERALL
In the end, Japan is still a pretty solid go-to spot for eats. We LOVED the bao bun and the sushi donut is a Festival of the Arts staple. The dessert still isn’t quite a winner for us, but sometimes people just want to go to Goshiki for the sake…and that’s totally okay too!
