One popular form of transportation in Disney World is now CLOSED for maintenance, and it’s kind of freaking us out a little bit.
We’ve known about the Disney Skyliner’s closure for a few months now, so that’s not the weird thing. We stopped by the Skyliner station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios today and discovered that all the gondolas on the Skyliner’s cables are MISSING, and tbh the pictures are seriously spooky.
The Disney Skyliner is completely closed right now and will remain closed through January 21st, 2024. Part of the Skyliner will stay closed a little longer, though: Service to and from Disney’s Riviera Resort and EPCOT’s International Gateway will remain closed through January 27th, 2024.
While the Skyliner is closed, free bus transportation is available, so you can still get everywhere you need to go!
When we stopped by Disney’s Hollywood Studios this morning, we noticed that the Skyliner gondolas are not only unavailable for guests to use — they’re missing completely!Â
All the gondolas have been removed from the big cables, and it’s giving dystopian vibes. We’re used to this view…
…so to see NONE of those colorful gondolas in the sky was WEIRD.
There were a few gondolas inside the Hollywood Studios station, but those were the only ones we could find.
Outside the station, there were a couple of signs notifying guests that the Skyliner was closed…
…and providing information about alternative forms of transportation to use instead.
If you have more questions about how to get where you need to go, there were a couple of helpful Cast Members outside the station as well!
One of our favorite ways to use the Skyliner is to hop between Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. While that option isn’t available right now, you can use the Park Hopping buses that start running at 10AM each day. You could also travel between the parks via FriendShip boat! The boat ride will likely take around a half hour, as the boat will stop at several hotels along the way.
Note that you can also walk between the two parks, but it’s a pretty long way (about 20 minutes).

I used to work at a ski resort. During the summer we would take the chairs off for maintainer on the rollers and cable inspection so it’s perfectly normal.

Never was a fan of the Skyliner! They seem expensive, ugly, and not very efficient – and an accident waiting to happen. The walk between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios is easy and pleasant. And a Disney bus driver is part of the magic!

What’s the big deal? Not at all creepy!
They are in the main station parking area where maintenance is conducted on them regularly, not just during closures.
