Another day, another closure in Disney World.
Disney’s Boardwalk Inn
We’ve said goodbye to several stores in Disney Springs over the past year and even dealt with continued restaurant closures, too. Of course, when one door closes another one opens, and this time — the door is closing on a restaurant at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and we’ve got all the details.
Big River Grille and Brewing Works at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will be permanently closing on January 22nd, 2024. January 21st will be the restaurant’s last day of operation.

The restaurant confirmed the news, and the Disney World website has been updated to show no available opening times from January 22nd and beyond.

Big River Grille wasn’t a standout or super popular restaurant for fans, but it was a solid sports bar and place to grab a beer and a bite to eat on the BoardWalk. We enjoyed the meals we had there for the most part; they just weren’t anything different from what you might find at your local sports bar.

Located on Disney’s BoardWalk, this was a great spot for some late-night eats after a round of sing-a-longs at Jellyrolls, or hit this spot after watching the nighttime spectacular at EPCOT (Big River Grille is within walking distance from the park).
Disney’s Boardwalk Resort
While we’re sad to see Big River Grille go, we are excited that this means something new will likely be on the way soon. We can’t wait to see what’s next for this space. Oh, and while we’re on the subject, did you know that there are a TON of changes coming to Disney’s BoardWalk Resort? See this little food stand? It’s getting a total MAKEOVER soon!
This spot is CHANGING!
There are several changes, refurbishments, and rethemes happened at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. Look out for the brand-new Cake Bake Shop Restaurant, set to open in 2024, as well as a new Blue Ribbon Corn Dog stand. Here’s a peek at the current progress on the construction of the new restaurant. It’s coming along!

The Cake Bake Shop is a new Table Service restaurant that will serve items for brunch, lunch, and dinner, featuring both sweet and savory menus. We can’t WAIT to check it out.
A NEW Disney World Restaurant Will Have a SECRET Offsite Bakery!
Back in December, Disney announced that all construction of the BoardWalk villas was complete! The updated rooms can be booked as one-bedroom villas with Garden or Pool views, BoardWalk views, or Standard views. For an inside look at the new rooms, click HERE!

You said in your article that “they just weren’t anything different from what you might find at your local sports bar”. Unfortunately, some people staying on the Boardwalk want a ‘local sports bar’, and not the type of high end food offered at all the other spots. First it was the ESPN club, now Big River. Another Disney disappointment.
Please let them have some sense and open a proper quick service. The deli is like eating airport food.
