It’s the end of an era in Magic Kingdom!
Country Bear Jamboree was one of the opening day attractions at Magic Kingdom, opening alongside the park on October 1st, 1971. Last year, Disney announced that the attraction would be closing to make room for a new, updated version of the show. The original Country Bear Jamboree gave its final performances on January 26th, 2024. And now that it’s officially closed, let’s take a look at what’s REALLY changing with the classic attraction.
The new version of Country Bear Jamboree is set to debut in Summer 2024. While we don’t know exactly what the refreshed show will look like yet, let’s dive into the changes that Disney has confirmed so far!
First, and foremost, the name of the show is receiving a slight tweak to go along with the new version. Instead of Country Bear Jamboree, the new version will be called Country Bear Musical Jamboree.
The show will be a take on classic variety shows found in Nashville, Tennessee, and Nashville musicians are involved in the new arrangements. The bears will perform their songs in new styles like country, rockabilly, and bluegrass.
It hasn’t yet been confirmed if the full versions of any fan-favorite songs from the original show will return, but Disney has said it, “will include easter eggs from the beginning to the end including a familiar tune fans may remember.”
But on the topic of songs, it HAS been confirmed that the new show will feature classic Disney songs performed in country, rockabilly, and bluegrass styles. Disney shared a behind-the-scenes clip of “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book, so that’s a hint for one song that we might see the bears perform! That’s the only clue we’ve seen so far, so no word yet on what other Disney songs might appear.
Fitting with the updated style, the bears will also get a refreshed wardrobe of new outfits. Disney shared this sneak peek at Henry’s new look, for an idea of the direction the styling might go!
Disney also confirmed that the bear originally named “Liver Lips McGrowl” is getting a new name — Romeo McGrowl.
This change is also reflected on the posters for Country Bear Musical Jamboree.
Now that the show has officially closed, we’ll keep a close eye out for any updates as changes are made for the new version coming this summer. Stay tuned to DFB for more news from Frontierland and beyond!

No. Keep Liver Lips Liver Lips. He will always be referred to as Liver Lips.
The songs should remain Original songs. The addition of Disney songs from movies, is not why we go to CBJ.
Take a look at the crowds these past 2 weeks, this is why we go. This is what we love.
It didn’t work for Tiki Room Under New Management with they added Iago, I hope they revert back to the Original CBJ we all love.
I never laughed so hard at WDW, than when I heard Big AL sing Blood on the Floor. Best memory

The classic, original show is what everyone loves and goes to see. Just fix anything mechanical that is broken and open back up! As stated above, the “Tiki Room Under New Management” was a huge flop. Please don’t mess this up.

I loved the “under new management” version. I thought it tied in great with the Aladdin theming outside in the plaza. I wish they would bring back the Holiday show for the bears. It was so much better than the summer show in December.
