If you’re thinking of staying at one of the three All-Star hotels in Disney World, here are some things you should know first!
Disney’s All-Star Movies, Disney’s All-Star Music, and Disney’s All-Star Sports are three of the value hotel options in Disney World. These hotels do have some benefits that might make them a good fit for you (especially the value price tier, which is a MAJOR draw for families on a budget). But, before you book your stay at an All-Star hotel, here are four unfortunate occurrences we regularly experience that you should know about!
Large Competition Crowds
Disney World is home to several large annual athletic competitions, like The Cheerleading Worlds that are held at ESPN Wide World of Sports each spring. And The Cheerleading Worlds is just one example! Disney World also hosts competitions for other sports like dance, football, baseball, and more.
Between competitors, coaches, chaperones, and extended families, these athletic competitions often bring thousands of people to Disney World — and the All-Star Resorts are one of the most popular places for them to stay.
If your stay at an All-Star hotel overlaps with one of these large competitions, you’ll probably run into some huge crowds at your hotel. And that can mean lots of extra noise, crowded common areas like pools and food courts, and long transportation lines.

Transportation Issues
The only form of free Disney transportation available at the All-Star hotels is bus service.
With only one way to get to and from the parks, it seems like each time we stay here, we inevitably either just miss a bus as it’s driving away or have to wait for what seems like forever for one to show up!
Plus, keep in mind that if there are big crowds at the hotel while you’re staying there, that can also mean long bus lines, so you might have to wait for a few to come and go before it’s your turn to ride.

Mediocre Food
You won’t find many dining options at the All-Star hotels. Each one has its own food court and pool bar, but there are no table service dining locations in any of them.
That doesn’t mean you won’t find anything you enjoy at one of the All-Star food courts, especially if you prefer some “standard theme park food” options. But in our experience, the food at the All-Star hotels is hit or miss, and we’re often underwhelmed by what we get.
If dining is a big part of your Disney World experience, be prepared to do lots of eating away from your Resort if you book an All-Star hotel!

Crowded Pools
Circling back to the big crowds around the All-Star hotels, when we stay here we regularly find that the pools can get SUPER crowded, especially during peak times of the day.
That can make it especially tough to find a spot to relax since the crowds also mean extra noise.
If you’re big on lounging in the sun and soaking up some peace and quiet during your vacation, the All-Star pools might not be for you!
2 Disney World Pools That Will CHANGE Your Hotel Plans
For some people, the more affordable prices (by Disney standards, that is) and super family-friendly vibe of the All-Star hotels make them a great choice. But these hotels do have some drawbacks as well! Be sure to consider these unfortunate things we’ve experienced there when deciding if an All-Star hotel is right for you!
