We have BIG Disney movie news, and you’re not going to want to miss it. We finally have more details for a few upcoming films!
February 7th marked a BIG day for The Walt Disney Company, as fans and shareholders alike tuned in to the first earnings call of 2024. Throughout the call, we got updates on Disney’s financial performance across the parks as well as online streaming platforms. As the Company focuses more on streaming and film, we were able to get some huge updates on some upcoming releases that we’ve been expecting. Let’s talk about it!
In a talk with CNBC prior to the earnings call, Disney shared that Moana 2 would be in theaters on November 27th, 2024. This was a SURPRISE announcement, as none of us were expecting a Moana 2. Disney announced in 2020 that a Moana series would arrive on Disney+, and we learned in 2023 that a live-action Moana movie was in the works, but nobody placed their bets on a second animated film. CEO Bob Iger said that the series was so good that they decided to switch gears entirely and make it into a movie.
This is a pretty big deal, especially considering the fact that we almost NEVER get a release date so soon once a movie is announced. As excited as we are about Moana 2, though, we NEED to talk about the other movies that were mentioned.
First up, Disney CEO Bob Iger commented on Zootopia 2, the sequel to 2016’s Zootopia. The film will follow along with Judy Hopps once more, and you can catch it in theaters in 2025! We really didn’t get a whole lot of details on this one or its plot, but we’re hoping for more Judy and Nick shenanigans.
We think that Iger really loves Zootopia. He’s teased that Zootopia could take over part of DinoLand U.S.A.Disney has also teased that Zootopia could take over part of DinoLand U.S.A.,and a Zootopia-themed land just arrived to Shanghai Disneyland.
Next, Iger gave us some updates on the highly-anticipated Frozen 3 . Iger said that we can expect the film “around 2026 and beyond.” All we know about the film so far is that Josh Gad will return as Olaf, and the movie will boast a new director.
This is the one that a lot of fans are SUPER excited about. We don’t know anything about the plot yet, but we can assume that it continues Anna’s story as Queen of Arendelle. We’re not sure what those two sisters could possibly get into next, but we’ll be watching front-row with popcorn.
Last but not least, Iger touched on Toy Story 5! This one is also set for 2026 and beyond, and will feature Tim Allen as the voice of Buzz Lightyear. Nothing else has been revealed yet, unfortunately. A lot of fans were confused when this film was announced, as a lot of us truly believed that the story of Andy’s toys was OVER.
Like… what else could happen to these poor toys? We’ll also be there watching this one, with tears AND popcorn.
We’re constantly keeping up with Disney news, so be sure to follow along with us here at DFB so that you’re always in the loop.

Orange Ariel says
I can’t wait for all these movies! Toy Story 4 was depressing, so I hope they make Toy Story 5 less depressing.
