Listen up! It seems that Disney is meaning business when it comes to cracking down on password sharing for Disney+ accounts in 2024.
It hasn’t been too long since the last time Disney mentioned cracking down on password sharing between Disney+ households. That conversation has even inspired other streaming services to follow suit, too! Now, Disney has shared yet another update on its plans to reduce password sharing among subscribers.
Disney had already promised to crack down on password sharing between households for its popular streaming service Disney+, but now we know more about how they plan to enforce it. During Disney’s 2024 Q1 earnings call, The Walt Disney Company revealed the latest in its plans to make good on its promise of sticker enforcement.
Based on what was shared during the call, Disney is going to be actively cracking down on account holders who are sharing their account passwords with folks who do not reside in the same household. While the streaming platform was originally meant to share between devices like your T.V., iPad, computer, and even mobile phones, it seems that account holders were taking that even further outside of just that immediate circle.
Disney has said that they are working on plans for account holders who want to allow access to individuals outside of their household. Those who opt-in for this service add-on will be able to add them to their accounts for an additional fee later this year.
While there’s definitely more to learn about how many people will be allowed per account additionally (and how much it will cost to add to your existing service), Disney isn’t sharing that information with us just yet. For now, we’ll just be waiting to hear from Disney what the future holds for add-on services to existing plans and we’ll be sure to update you once we know more about them!

I have Disney on 6 different TV’s depending on where I’m staying make it too difficult to log-in and it’s easy just cancel my subscription.

It will be interesting to see how this is implemented. We don’t share our log in, but we do log in different places, including when we travel. We are generally only using Disney+ on one device at a time, but it could be lots of different places. I hope they don’t start using biometrics – I just hope that however they do it, it’s not way harder for people who aren’t even sharing their logins.

Like many of the streaming services we had over 15 we had disney plus since it was a beta, heck we hsd netflix when ppl didn’t know it existed..Now since they’ve become greedier than cable we said buh bye to many we canceled disney after the 3rd pricr hike.. they can do whst ever they want with these abdurd greeds like the sharing or the ads etc… many of us won’t ever go back and if the greed works for them than good for them .

My grandchildren spend a TON of time at my house and use the Disney Plus from home when they are here. They are old enough to man the remote and enter passwords themselves. It will be interesting to see if Disney interferes with that. If they do, my daughter says she will cancel.

WOW!!!! Yes please charge me extra over the $50.00 price hike so my son can enjoy. We were just recently @ Disney World, absolutely packed, while in the standard line, decided to plug in and watch a Netflix movie, was out of household “VA” and rejected by Netflix , oh wait, I pay for it, bill in my name.

We travel a lot, and usually take along a Fire Stick so we can access more than the usually very lame hotel TV offerings. Is Disney going to make it impossible to watch Disney+ while on the road? We also have Hulu w/ Live TV, and when traveling, we can only access that which is available to the lowest tier subscriber.

I share it with my family, who reside in another state because it’s expensive. We only got it to share with each other when we were travelling. Harder because my dad travels a lot. Does this mean he won’t be able to access Disney+ on the road? So many questions.

Firestick, I gonna have to look that up. Anyway, it seems to me that these streaming companies have a lot to figure out to keep their paying customers happy. Didn’t this all begin with the government taking away the signal for our TV’s because of interfering with satellite signals???? Everyone was buying the worthless antennas, then cable, now all these separate streaming companies.
TKB says
With the price they charge then they want to charge more if I share my password with my daughter. I can fix that real easy I will just cancel it since I don’t watch it enough to justify what I’m paying as it is.
