It’s been nearly four years since Disney World closed down for the global pandemic, and things are still returning to normal in the parks.
For a while, we watched as Disney World hotels and restaurants reopened one by one. Eventually, we got the return of popular entertainment offerings and character meet and greets. But through it all, one restaurant has remained closed, and we get questions about it ALL the time!
Disney World has FINALLY announced that 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort will be reopening on April 10th, 2024. This spot is famous for its character meal and strawberry soup!
And as part of the reopening, there’s another big announcement — new characters will be available to meet at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Aladdin in his Prince Ali look, Cinderella, Mirabel, and Tiana in her new look for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will all be present to “celebrate the power of a wish.”
For breakfast and dinner, you’ll be able to enjoy a buffet meal, including the iconic strawberry soup. There will also be new menu offerings available that pay homage to the new characters and their stories.
Another change coming to the restaurant is the addition of some new artwork! In the main dining room, you’ll find twelve new portraits created exclusively for the restaurant by Disney artists. Each one features a different Disney character and is inspired by the impressionist art style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
We can’t wait to visit 1900 Park Fare soon! Reservations for this restaurant open on March 5th on the Disney World website, so set your alarms to book the experience. We’ll keep you in the loop as we get more news!

The new characters really do not match the whole Grand Floridian vibe.

We will be staying at the Polynesian resort the end of April and I was crossing my fingers that 1900 Park Fare would be open in time. Wishes do come true! Looking forward to snagging a reservation during our stay and treating my children to a dining experience that I experienced over 30 years ago when I stayed at the Grand Floridian as a kid!

The characters they had were perfect! So sorry to see the change – they just don’t fit.

It’s great when Disney introduces the opportunities to meet new characters, but… you can meet Aladdin and some (or maybe all) of these other ‘new’ characters in other places. There isn’t anywhere else to meet Cinderella’s prince or the Fairy Godmother – will they still be there? I would guess not, since 4 or 5 tends to be the max number of characters that usually appear at a character meal. Seriously disappointed, because we never had the chance to visit 1900 pre-pandemic. We probably won’t bother to go now – we’ve met these characters elsewhere without the cost of the meal. We love table service dining, and it’s a great way to visit different resorts, but this won’t offer anything unique anymore. Other experiences will win out for their unqiue offferings for us.

We have been waiting for it to open back up, but we are disappointed that it won’t be Cinderella and Prince Charming for dinner-Happily Ever After.
We were married there at The Wedding Chapel and reception at the Grand Floridian Convention Center. Cinderella and the Prince Charming were our theme for our wedding. This year is our 24th wedding anniversary.
We are coming back for our anniversary to hopefully be able to get a reservation at 1900 Park Fare for this year. So, it will still be our Anniversary and we will be at the location of our wedding day 24 years ago.

1900 Park Fare was something we did on every trip growing up. Always did the breakfast with Alice & The Mad Hatter (wasnt Mary Poppins there too? I cant remember!) Kinda wish they were bringing back the original character lineup, but at least it’s finally opening back up

They have ruined another Disney experience. Why can’t they leave well enough alone?! What does Mirabel, Tiana and Aladdin have to do with this restaurant? I was so looking forward to this place reopening but not with those characters. What does Disney have against Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter? Another bad decision by Disney management (which seems all that they do these days.) I won’t be attending what used to be my favorite Disney character meal.

So they got rid of the Step mother, step sisters, and the prince, so they can throw a bunch of characters together that have no relation to each other? Not even Jassmin? Why bother going to these dinners anymore when disney has basically taking the story telling out.
Enid says
I may like to try the strawberry soup since I’ve never had it before.
I think many years ago I & my sister went to 1900 Park Fare. If it was the place that had The Mad Hatter? I just remember it being very loud!
Andrea says
This is a fail In regards to theming! 😱 Hello Disney! Mary Poppins with Bert! Alice, Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts, and finally Mrs. Potts and Chip should be the main characters! 🙏🏻

I’m so disappointed by these changes, the characters announced absolutely don’t fit the atmosphere… I really hopped to have the opportunity to do it in the original version, I am fond of all the past characters (Alice, Mad hatter, Prince Charming and the step sisters and Lady Tremaine…) and none of them will be there.
I’m thinking about not going to 1900 Park Fare finally, because it’s no more what I dreamed of.
Debbie says
I wanted to go see the step sisters, Cinderella, Prince Charming and lady tremaine.
Love those step sisters. They are so fun.
If they will not be there, I I won’t either.
Makes me sad that I didn’t get to do it.
