When visiting Disney World is your full-time job and you’re there almost as much as you’re in your own house, you start to pick up on some warning signs.
Yep, we’re talking about warning signs that there could be BIG crowds soon. February is what many take for a slower season at Disney World, inspiring an influx in tour groups, field trips, and sports groups. This weekend marks no exception, as a big competition is happening in Orlando!
The UCA Cheer Competition kicks off on February 9th, 2024, and will continue until February 12th. Cheer teams from all over the country will flock to Disney World to compete, and the cheerleaders and their families tend to spend a lot of time in the parks for some R&R!
The 4-day championship will take place at the ESPN Wide World Of Sports Complex, so you can probably expect to see some extra traffic over there, as well.
Alongside the competition at the Wide World of Sports Complex, competitors will be able to experience extended evening hours at Magic Kingdom on Friday, February 9th, with a private celebration party occurring at Hollywood Studios on Sunday, February 11th.
With such a huge event occurring, we can expect to see an uptick in park and hotel crowds this weekend.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more Disney news, so make sure to follow along so that you never miss a thing!

Yes agreeable to the large crowds. However had a blast at Epcot and Magic Kingdom. It also was fun seeing the different cheer teams ask people about different songs to dance with them in line .
Also THANKS for all the superb information on the parks. My wife is subscribed to your Youtube channel and this is our 3rd visit to WDW.
P.S. I was able to trade our 2 ghosts from 6 years ago for New and Improved Ghosts.

Is this an annual event? My family is trying to plan for a February tip next year, so it would be awesome to try and avoid this if it is (even though I DO love cheerleading)…

Hi Brittany! It is an annual event. We don’t have dates for 2025 yet. In 2023 it was held in March and this year it will be held in February, so I would expect 2025 to be in the February/March range as well.
