It’s been a BIG week for Disney news!
We learned just how the parks and more are doing during the recent earnings call and also found out details about sequels for Moana and Zootopia. On top of that, a brand new sports streaming service is in the works from Disney, and — we officially have a reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon (which means a closure date for Blizzard Beach, too!)
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will be reopening on March 17th, 2024!
The water park had been closed since November 2023 while Disney worked on some refurbishments and sprucing up the place. While the park was closed, visitors could instead go to Blizzard Beach Water Park which was still open — but that’s about to change too.
Blizzard Beach will be closed as of March 17th, 2024, so March 16th will be your last day to squeeze in a visit if you want!
Disney shared on its website that the park will be undergoing refurbishment during the closure, but we don’t have any solid details on what those refurbs might entail. In recent years, Disney has only been operating one water park at a time based on demand and staffing capabilities.

They do this every year like clockwork. I live typhoon and I’m planning to be there starting the 25th. The entire atmosphere is perfect. I wish they would go back to the old soundtrack but eh, that’s getting picky.

Why do they keep leaving BB open for only 4 months and during the coldest part of the year? Who wants to go to a water park most of the time during those months? I really want to experience BB but both times I went to Orlando during the short window it is opened (early/mid December and early Feb), it has been too cold for water parks. I’ve only ever been to Typhoon Lagoon and honestly I’m tired of it and I regret adding the water parks to my annual pass. Before Covid they had both WPs open during summer and each closed for 2-3 months per year. Now TL is closing for 3 months but that’s all the time they are keeping BB open. This is really frustrating as I won’t be back until April and I just can’t see ever getting to go to BB if they are going to keep the Nov thru mid-March schedule going forward.
