February 7th marked a big day of NEWS from The Walt Disney Company.
At the first earnings call of 2024, we learned a LOT about the Company’s financial gains and losses. While things in the parks are still a bit complicated, it seems that things within the streaming and film sector are on the up and up. Disney announced that ESPN would be partnering with Fox and Warner Bros., Zootopia 2, Toy Story 5, and Frozen 3 are each in the works and set to start rolling out in 2025 and beyond, and we’re even getting Moana 2 later this year!
Yes, you’ll be able to catch Moana 2 in theaters on November 27th, 2024! Disney shared stunning clips and a teaser trailer of the movie, which you can watch here:

Variety shared some extra details regarding the film’s production, and this is where some fans began to feel a little less excited. It seems that Lin-Manuel Miranda won’t be working on the film as he did with the first Moana movie.
Miranda is the brain behind iconic songs from the first movie like “How Far I’ll Go” and “You’re Welcome,” so it’s hard to imagine a continuation of Moana’s story without him.
Variety said, “Dave Derrick Jr. is directing the sequel, with music from the duo of Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, as well as Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina, who worked on the first film.”

What do you think of a Moana movie without Lin-Manuel Miranda? Let us know in the comments!
Julian Pendleton says
Without Lin Manuel Miranda, the soundtrack & the movie might not be as good as the first Moana movie, I hope he comes back and helps with the movie and soundtrack. Also, if Moana 2 crosses with Lilo and Stitch that would be awesome.
