It’s no secret that we love a good Target run.
We love finding new essentials for our next Disney trip, little splashes of fun Disney whimsy to add to our home decor, and, of course, those impulse buys of best-selling books and cute accessories that somehow find their way into our baskets.
Target already has a free loyalty program that offers shoppers deals and rewards, but with declining sales numbers, Bloomberg reports that Target is now considered a paid membership similar to Amazon Prime, Walmart Plus, and Kroger Boost.
This new paid membership program could look to incorporate Shipt, its delivery service. And since its primary competitors like Walmart and Amazon have also adopted this membership strategy, it’s a consideration quickly coming close to reality.
No additional details were given about pricing, tiers, or what the paid membership would include, or even if Target Red Card holders could expect any additional perks or discounts. If it’s anything similar to Amazon Prime, Walmart Plus, or Kroger Boost, members can expect exclusive deals, discounts, and perks, such as free deliveries for groceries. The program, dubbed “Project Trident,” could roll out by the end of 2024.

I love Target and shop there regularly. If they take away our 5% discount as a red card holder, it’s goodbye Target for me!! So tired of everyone jumping on the membership bandwagon. What happened to just letting us shop????
