After being closed for over three years, 1900 Park Fare is finally reopening in Disney World!
This sit-down restaurant can be found at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and will open its doors once again on April 10th, 2024. While this sounds like welcome news, 1900 Park Fare will be getting some updates and not everyone is thrilled about them. We’re breaking down why Disney fans are so mad about the changes at 1900 Park Fare in Disney World.
1900 Park Fare will officially be welcoming folks once again on April 10th, 2024 and we happen to be pretty darn excited! But, Disney announced that the reopening will come with some changes, and fans aren’t too happy about that.
Disney shared that “An enchanting buffet will be served for breakfast and dinner, featuring some returning guest favorites — yes, that includes the strawberry soup! — along with new menu offerings dreamed up by our talented chefs to pay tribute to some of the characters and stories you’ll encounter throughout the restaurant.”
Back before 1900 Park Fare closed for the pandemic, diners could enjoy the Supercalifragilistic Breakfast — this allowed folks to dine and eat with characters like Mary Poppins, Cinderella, Prince Charming, and Winnie the Pooh.
But, as part of the new theming, you’ll be able to meet Aladdin in his Prince Ali look, Cinderella, Mirabel, and Tiana in her new look for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
When we polled our readers, a majority were against this character update — saying that the new characters don’t fit the theme of the restaurant or hotel at all. In recent years, much of the Grand Floridian has been updated to reflect more Mary Poppins theming, and people seem to be upset that she won’t be part of the character lineup.
No matter how you feel about the characters, the fact that 1900 Park Fare is reopening at all is welcome news.
One thing is for sure, we’ll be on the lookout for even more news and updates from the reopening of 1900 Park Fare. Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney news!

It’s ridiculous to update with these characters!! I remember when the wicked stepmother and step sisters were there also!! I thought the Grand Floridian was being rethemed to Marry Poppins??!!! So add Mary Poppins, Burt and a penguin instead!!! And also keep Cinderella, the prince, stepmother and sisters! That’s how it should be done!! Enough of Disney’s ridiculous ideas that make no sense! Pay attention Disney to what you’re doing!!!

I am excited about the updated characters – all these folks complain all the time about Disney updating attractions, characters, etc.
Walt said so himself that the parks would continue to evolve and change – deal with it – it’s something new – AND – a great character dining spot is open again. Let’s be grateful.

I thought the stepsisters were the best thing about it

Mary Poppins is a must-have. No debate on that. End of commen! How about have all of them, former and new, and really bring back the magic?

Can’t say this new lineup inspires me to visit. I was SO looking forward to seeing Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters again!

People are always mad about change but the parks and restaurants are full to bursting. This isn’t the end of the world. It’s just a different set of characters. Now if the strawberry soup wasn’t coming back…. LOL!!
Charlie says
I must admit, I will miss the Mad Hatter.
Leah says
I’ll miss Mary Poppins and the Mad Hatter. I think Mirabel would be a good character for Hollywood and Vine.

Never been always wanted to go because I was excited about the stepmother/sister interactions. now its off my list.

Well, waited for this to reopen, booked and gambled that it would. Elation when it was announced it would reopen. Despair when we saw that none of the characters would be there. The breakfast was good but it was the characters like Mary Poppins etc that made you splash out. It is said that Universal changes it’s rides and struggles to get loyal returning park goers. Disney had the rides that Nan, Grandad, Mum and Dad the Grand Kids all knew and loved. There is so much being flushed away now that I wonder whether we will ever make it back again!!!!!!

To be fair, people will complain about any Disney change. That being said, this used to be the best opportunity to interact with the hilarious Stepsisters. They really made the experience super memorable, yelling to each other from across the room… basically just stealing the show. It was far beyond the handshake, hug or photo with some idle chit-chat that comes with many characters. And that’s not the cast members’ fault. You simply need chatty or over the top characters like the Stepsisters (or The Hatter, the Evil Queen, Rapunzel, or Anna…) to be that engaging and entertaining. The experience will be missed. Makes me winder if attendance was in decline before the pandemic. Sure, the room needed refreshing, but in the long run attendance won’t we as strong with a less engaging experience. In this age of influencers on YouTube and Tictok, once the thrill of the new wears off I predict the numbers will show this. The problem to overcome was probably a lack of awareness not motivating people to make the trek there, not the content.

Without Alice & The Mad Hatter, my family and I will not be returning. Was excited to hear that it was finally reopening; but then after reading the changes, not so much. We went for a very specific reason and character setting at this restaurant, the complete character change makes it no longer of interest to us. We used to love to do breakfast there, now, even that will be no more.
At least we still have our memories of the good ol’ days!!

I was so looking forward to them reopening and now, there is no reason for me to go.
The step sisters with lady Tremaine, Cinderella and Prince Charming is what I wanted to see. The step sisters are hilarious and all 5 of them belonged together.
I saw someone stream it.

Debbie makes an excellent point. Lady Tremaine and the Step Sisters were very entertaining. And the theming — having them present with Cinderella and Prince Charming made for a wonderful character dining experience.
I watched a video of some fans’ reaction to the last episode of Season 2 of Mandolorian yesterday. Bob Iger and all those involved with anything creative at Disney need to watch that. It should mandatory viewing. The way the writers and director captured the magic and fan engagement in Mandolorian Season 2 was phenomenal. It was just like the old days. That was just over a year ago, Disney. Some people in your corporation still have the “touch.” Let them loose to do more and have them teach and show others.

Bring back Mary Poppins! She goes with the theme! Even it’s just for breakfast. I also loved the step sisters. They were so funny! Wouldn’t Tiana fit in better at Port Orleans? The Grand Floridian had so much going for it when it had the band, tea room, unique china and so many of the original things when it first opened. It was so magical then.

Our favorite part of dining at 1900 Park Faire was Lady Tremaine and the step-sisters. My son and nephew were younger when we went there and the step-sisters zoned right in on them. They became our “in-laws” and Lady Tremaine wanted a pre-nup. Drizella took my nephew and Anastasia took my son. The boys were tag-teamed! LOL. We have the GREATEST photos from our time there. We laughed and laughed and laughed throughout dinner. It’s what made it special for us… the fantastic memories we have. My daughter and niece were enthralled by Cinderella and the Prince. They got to dance with the Prince, so they were over the moon. I know things are always changing, but I doubt we’ll eat there now. I’d rather have the fun we had for the price of the meal. I’m grateful for the memories and the photos we have. They at least should have the Prince still… and Jasmine. It’s better for the dancing. Cinderella can’t dance with Aladdin!
