Y’all, we have been getting A TON of Disney announcements recently.
From the announcement of the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to hearing about a possible 5th gate at Walt Disney World, there is SO much to take in right now. We LOVE hearing about all of the things for us to be excited for, and with the heavy emphasis on news in the parks, we’ve been overlooking something — what Disney is planning to bring into the TV world in 2024!
While we have been hearing a lot about what is coming to the Disney Parks, we can’t forget about what is coming to Disney’s streaming services in 2024. Streaming is one of Disney CEO Bob Iger’s top priorities for 2024 — and there are some big plans for different shows that we can expect across the networks that Disney owns.
Disney also oversees multiple media companies and platforms — like ABC, Hulu, ESPN, and Freeform. So, Disney has a wide array of shows to create and different networks to premier them on. According to Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich, the decision on where to put certain content is made in a way that is complementary for the networks and shows.
So, what can we expect to see across the networks that Disney owns in 2024? Well, we’re glad you asked!
One thing that is on the table and announced for 2024 is more Goosebumps, which has officially been renewed for its second season on Disney+. Goosebumps is an anthology series that follows a different storyline throughout each season. During Season 2, they plan to follow teenage siblings who discover a threat in their home — and we’ll have to tune in to see how that unfolds!
Along with that, a season of The Golden Bachelorette has been announced. It is planned to air this fall on ABC! Right now, they’re still casting for the upcoming season. The first season of this spinoff, The Golden Bachelor, was the second most-watched show on the network while it was airing. We’re excited to see what it is like when the roles reverse!
A show that has been announced to be in development right now is based on the popular book series A Court of Thorns and Roses; however, Disney did not have any updates to share surrounding that.
We’re so excited to see these shows unfold once they are released. Until then, we’re keeping up with all of the latest Disney news — so keep checking in with us at DFB to see what we find next!
