Sometimes, it stings when we hear about movies that were written but never made.
The idea that we were SO CLOSE to getting something that we, unfortunately, never see can be haunting. At times, we would rather continue on with our lives in peaceful bliss than learn about a canceled project. We just found out about a comedy movie that was written by JOSH GAD (a.k.a. OLAF), but it was never made. Yes, that Josh Gad. Since we heard about it, it’s been at the forefront of our minds — and we decided that we NEED to talk about it… like, right now.
That’s right, y’all. Disney legend, actor, comedian, and screenwriter Josh Gad wrote a script for a movie that would never be made. Before you ask — yes, we’re sad about it.
Josh Gad took to Instagram to share the prologue for his movie, a sequel to the 1988 movie Twins. The sequel was titled Triplets, and reading the prologue made us wish we would’ve been lucky enough to see this movie.
Where did Gad get the inspiration to create a prologue for a new movie? Well, in his Instagram post, he shares that seeing Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger in a State Farm commercial during the Super Bowl made him think of the movie, and he decided he wanted to celebrate their on-screen reunion. These were also the stars of the movie Twins, and would have been two of the stars for the sequel that Gad wrote.
Honestly, it gets better. In the movie written by Gad, the plan was to — as the title suggests — introduce a third character to the classic duo. Who was supposed to play the triplet? Eddie Murphy.
The idea of a comedy movie where these three play brothers is absolutely iconic. We have to be honest here; we don’t think we have ever needed anything more IN OUR LIVES. What do you think it would take for this movie to be made? Because we’ll do whatever it takes (or, at least, try).
We hope that you got as much joy from reading this prologue as we did — and hopefully, you don’t get as much FOMO. We’re going to be keeping our eyes out for updates (we really hope we get more of this) and any and all Disney news. Keep checking back in with us to see what we find next!
