Okay, it is HARD keeping up with all the changes in Disney World, but, hey, we’re trying.
We’re ALWAYS spotting something new on construction projects in the Disney World parks, like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the new DVC villas at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We’re always LOOKING for something new at restaurants, especially new ones that should open soon, like The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. When we learned that 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa would reopen soon, we’ve been looking for changes there, too — well, something HUGE has changed at the restaurant ahead of its reopening!
1900 Park Fare has been closed since 2020 and we’ve been WAITING for Disney to announce its reopening. Well, we finally got that announcement: the restaurant will reopen on April 10th, 2024. That’s not too far away. Well, ahead of that reopening, we noticed something NEW. The restaurant has pretty new doors!Â
Here are what the doors previously looked like:
The new doors are a LOT prettier with windows and new decorative elements. We also LOVE their dusty blue color. This is already giving the restaurant some new personality and we are here for it! These are so much nicer than the plain white doors, don’t you think?
Here’s a closer look at those beautiful decorative elements surrounding the doors’ windows. We LOVE IT!
That’s not the only thing that’s going to be different about the restaurant, though. The character dining experience is also changing with NEW characters. The previous experience had characters like Mary Poppins, Cinderella, Prince Charming, and Winnie the Pooh. The NEW dining experience will bring in Aladdin in his Prince Ali outfit, Cinderella, Mirabel, and Tiana in her new outfit from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Many fans are on the fence about this change, because they liked meeting the other characters, too.
Disney has confirmed that the famous Strawberry Soup will be returning when the restaurant reopens. Whew! If you haven’t had that yet…well, just you wait because it will BLOW your mind.
We’ll be curious about the INSIDE of the restaurant, too, so we’ll be looking for Disney to share new details about that as well. We have no idea if it got a retheming, but after all this time, it’s very likely! Reservations for 1900 Park Fare open up on March 5th, so if you’d like to dine there, you’ll want to jump on what might be a hard-to-get reservation, at least for a while.

Has it been announced if there will be different characters for the different meals?

I was so happy to hear this restaurant is reopening as it’s my favorite character breakfast and the new doors are lovely. But with the cast of characters they are switching to…no, not interested. These characters do not fit in with the Grand Floridian whatsoever. Tiana is getting a ride so why is she being shoved into this lineup? And what does Prince Ali have to do with the hotel theming? And why Mirabel? What do these characters have to do with the 1900 Park Fare? Absolutely nothing. I’m not even sure Cinderella should be there. She does have her own restaurant. It should be the characters of the time period: Mary Poppins and the gang from Alice in Wonderland. But Disney doesn’t seem to understand theming these days as they refurbish something and take out most of the theming. The company has been such a disappointment these last few years. One more trip to the kingdom and I’m done. The magic is truly gone.
