Orlando’s Streets Will Be Full of People in Their Undies This Weekend and No, This Isn’t a Joke

So you’ve probably seen or heard about the runDisney events in Disney World.

These events happen throughout the year and bring hundreds of thousands of runners to the resort. Each event has a theme, and you’re very likely to see runners dressed up in fun running costumes to match the theme (or just dressed as their favorite Disney characters. Well, ANOTHER running event is happening in Orlando this weekend — and let’s just say people will be wearing FAR less than that.

According to Fox 35, runners will be descending upon the streets of Orlando this weekend in nothing but their undies! Don’t worry, though, because it’s for a good cause. It’s an annual event called Cupid’s Undie Run and it takes place on February 17th. This run happens all over the U.S. and supports those affected by Neurofibromatosis (NF), which is a condition that causes tumors in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

However, Cupid’s Undie Run isn’t like most running events. It’s strictly for fun and it’s not timed. Participants don’t have to wear race bibs and there are no winners. It’s strictly to help raise funds for the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Instead of loading up on carbs, participants start the day drinking and dancing. Afterward, they participate in the mile-long run. There’s an “epic dance party” after, and yes, runners are encouraged to do all of this in their underwear (although the organization does request that it’s kept PG-13). Costumes and onesies are also acceptable runwear.

If you’re interested in joining in, the event starts at noon on February 17th with the run beginning around 2PM and ending at 4PM.
