Cast Members are known for making magic for guests each day. Cast Members truly add that extra touch of pixie dust!
The Disney Food Blog team just happens to be full of past Disney Cast Members. We recently have asked our team about their regrets while working as a Cast Member.
We reached out to our resident Cast Member alumni to tell us about their confessions from when they used to work at Disney World!
From confessions about which snacks got Cast Members through their shifts to working late hours, we compiled a list of eight confessions of former Disney Cast Members!
Disney is known for having iconic snacks and food offerings. Like we always say Food IS a Theme Park! Past Cast Members can agree with this statement.
A former Cast Member told us that when they worked at the French Quarter, they would get beignets after their shift. When they had to clock in in the early hours of the morning, they knew they would have a treat waiting for them once their shift was over!
Another former Cast Member confessed that after their shifts were done, they would order a cinnamon roll from Gaston’s Tavern to go, that way they would have breakfast for the next morning!
You might be wondering how Cast Members can snag these treats before or during their shift. Multiple Cast Members have confessed to bringing street clothes to put over their costumes. Some Cast Members are allowed to get food on stage during their breaks as long as they are not in full costume.
We would totally do the same thing if it meant getting to have fun Disney treats on a break!
Working early and late hours are all part of the job when you work at Disney World. Cast Members who work night hours might get home late, but it is not all that bad!
One Cast Member told us that they actually liked working night shifts because it meant that they could walk in an empty park!
Working at the parks at night might mean that you get to see a nighttime spectacular! One Cast Member confessed that while working in Hollywood Studios they would stay on stage after they had clocked out to hear the music from Fantasmic!
Continuing on with nighttime entertainment, another Cast Member told us that they would watch the Magic Kingdom’s fireworks from the tables at Gaston’s Tavern. What a magical addition to a shift!
While Cast Members love to help guests, they also like to be guests!
One former Cast Member told us that they would go play in the parks before their shift. To make it to work on time, they would carry their costume with them!
As we know from the last confession, Cast Members like to visit and work in the parks but, sometimes they are ready to go home. After shifts, one Cast Member confessed that they would run through the Utilidors to catch the bus.
We are grateful to the Cast Members who shared their confessions and let us in on what life was like as a Cast Member.

Cast Members deserve EVERY ounce of joy they can get out of the parks because they give guests so much joy when on their shifts. I am happy to hear they have fun times.

After relocating to Orlando from New England I was thrilled at the idea of working at Disney! I went through the day long interview process. I had been an executive secretary until my kids were born, then was a stay at home more until we moved. I was told there were people seeking office jobs at Disney who had more recent work history. I was then told that as a plus sized woman the uniforms only went to a size 14 so a park position was out of the question as well. My only option for employment was a part time behind the scenes position for busy times. I was heartbroken! However,I was able to get a job at one of the premium hotels where being plus sized was not a crime. This was in the early 90’s and since then apparently Disney has discovered that plus size people can actually do jobs in the public areas. Still hurts to this day, decades later!

Sue interesting comment above about Disney not having plus size costumes. Disney has come a long way! When I was 5 years old I was dancing with my mother near the stage by that restaurant in tomorrow land and a CM tapped my mother on the shoulder and told her we couldn’t dance together! Because sane sex couple wasn’t permitted even though I was ( and her daughter! It was shocking but not uncommon I guess in the 70’s but now they welcome transgender people and let you dress how ever you feel most comfortable whether it be a dress or pants it’s however you identify and you don’t have to change your hair or looks in any way which I think is a great thing that people can be free to be who they are.
