Disney World is introducing some BIG changes in 2025!
Walt Disney World Resort has already made some monumental changes to its parks this year, and we’re looking forward to all the changes to come. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open this summer, one of our favorite restaurants is making a comeback, and an all-new festival area is set to open in EPCOT. However, Disney resorts around the globe never stop changing and now we know of a big change that will be introduced to Disney World hotel guests in 2025!
Beginning February 27th, 2024, guests can start booking their 2025 Disney World Vacation Packages. With that said, 2025 room reservations will look a little different than they do now, though — according to an official Disney press release, 2025 arrivals for room-only reservations can cancel their reservations UP TO EIGHT (8) DAYS before their arrival without penalty.
Previously, reservations could be canceled up to five days before to avoid penalty, so this change does restrict Disney World hotel guests a bit more than in years past. Canceling 0-7 days out from the reservation will result in the forfeiture of the deposit (the cost of a one-night stay).
Disney representation confirmed that the Vacation Packages cancelation policy has not changed.
The current Vacation Package policy is as follows:
If you book your resort reservation in a Vacation Package (the resort reservation includes a room and park tickets), you can cancel the entire package up to 30 days out from your arrival date for a full refund. From 2 to 29 days, you can cancel but will be penalized a $200 cancelation fee (prices are subject to change). If you cancel the day before or on the day of your arrival, the penalty is a complete forfeiture of the entire package cost.
It’s important to note that changes to a package that includes a hotel stay will impact the entire package — meaning you can’t single out the hotel when canceling.
Also being included in the 2025 Disney World Vacation Packages is FREE water park access on the day of arrival. That means on the day you check in you can hop over to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park (whichever is open) to get your vacation started even faster — free of charge!

Absolutely, the five days cancellation policy was already an issue. However, the eight days is very difficult with travel interruptions, health emergencies and work scheduling .
Basically I never, ever book a Disney Vacation package specifically because of the draconian cancellation policies . With the new extension on cancellation time I have to consider the room only reservation as a last minute option only.
