When you go to Disney World, you probably get excited to ride all the rides and rank your favorites. The food is probably our favorite part about the Disney parks, but the rides are a close second.
Sadly, there are some trips you may take where your favorite rides aren’t running, which can be a real drag if you have been eager to ride it. Rides close down in Disney World for lots of reasons, but routine refurbishments are very common, and we’re happy they are because they ensure the best and safest rides for us. So, if you’re planning a trip in March, be prepared for these next few rides and attractions to be closed.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
A fan-favorite thrill ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed for a lengthy refurbishment on January 8th. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is an exciting, indoor coaster that you blast around on listening to Aerosmith hits.
At first, we didn’t know how long it would be closed, but the ride’s website eventually stated that it would reopen again this coming summer. It’s not uncommon for this ride to go through lengthy refurbishments. We saw the same thing in 2023 when it closed in February and reopened in May. It’s possible that will happen again, but it will for sure be closed in March.
Country Bear Jamboree
No, Country Bear Jamboree is not a ride, but it is a very popular attraction that we felt deserved to be on this list. The Country Bears have taken a break from performing for a major overhaul.
The show closed on January 27th, 2024, and Disney has announced that it will reopen with an all-new show featuring new songs this summer. So if you’re headed to Magic Kingdom in March, just know that you might spot one of the bears walking around, but you won’t be able to catch their show.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
By now we’re all probably familiar with the new ride taking over the old Splash Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Lots of construction progress has been happening recently, which is great news since this ride will also be opening this summer in Disney World!
As we eagerly await to find out just what this bayou adventure will entail, we’re keeping a close eye on the progress. So keep that excitement up as we get closer to opening day!
Kali River Rapids
Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is another ride that often closes during the winter for refurbishment. The ride closed on January 8th, and Disney mentioned that it would reopen in mid-March.
We checked the ride’s website recently and noticed that times are now showing up for the water ride on March 15th! So if you’re going to be in Animal Kingdom before March 15th, know that this ride will still be closed. But for any trip on or after March 15th, get ready to get wet!
Hopefully, these closures don’t put too big of a kink in your plans! Disney does its best to ensure that we all stay safe and have a fun experience at their attractions. We’re always checking for closures, so keep following DFB for more Disney news!

What about Festival of the Lion King? It looks like it will be closed starting April 1st, which will impact those of us planning trips end of March, beginning of April.
