EPCOT is one of our favorite Disney World parks to spend time in.
There are so many incredible pavilions to explore, foods to eat, shows to see, and of course — rides to ride! But, not every day in EPCOT can be perfect, and sometimes folks get to experience that firsthand when a ride is evacuated due to an emergency.
Frozen Ever After was evacuated due to an emergency in the building on February 29th. Here’s what you can likely expect if you find yourself in the same situation. Cast Members were stationed out front to advise folks they’d have to come back later if they wanted to ride. They were also providing experience redemption passes (basically rain checks) for people with Lightning Lanes.
In this particular case, it seemed like the emergency was cleared up pretty quickly as wait times started showing not too long after we stopped by. But of course, this can vary based on the situation happening with the attraction.
In situations like this, it’s always important to remember to listen to Cast Members as they’re trained to keep everyone safe and know just what to do if an emergency arises.
On the flip side, if a ride you were planning on going on is suddenly closed, don’t worry — chances are it’ll be back up and running soon! And, if you purchased a Lightning Lane but a ride is down, stop by Guest Relations and they can usually help you out.

We once got stuck on Space Ranger Spin and had to evacuate out. It was late in the operating day, so we weren’t going to get a chance to ride again later, but we got an excellent once in a lifetime photo op on the way out. And way back in 1972, as a very small child, I was trapped with my family in Small World for a very long time. I suppose it could have been traumatic – they didn’t turn the music off – but it’s strangely a pretty fond memory now. Pirates also broke down on us once when we were just about to get on. It was late, we were tired, so we just waited. Most people left. We wound up getting to ride over and over. That was pretty cool. So I guess ride breakdowns aren’t all bad!

I was stuck on it’s a small world, at magic kingdom and the music was not working either so I sat and watched animatronics still moving and dancing. It’s normally my favourite ride but that day was creepy and I only rode it the once that day versus my usual 6 times
