Welcome to March. It’s starting to feel like spring in Disney World, especially now that the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival is underway.
Of course, Easter happens this month, too, and we’re SO ready to dive into all the fun Easter snacks and see the Easter displays at Disney World hotels. But there’s also ANOTHER important day coming up in Disney World, and we’re going to tell you all about it.
Sunday, March 3rd is a Japanese holiday called “Hinamatsuri,” which is Girl’s Day! Hinamatsuri is all about celebrating the health and happiness of girls. Disney World will be celebrating Hinamatsuri at the Japan Pavilion this year — how fun!
You’ll want to visit Mitsukoshi on that day for a Hair Accessory Demo from 12:30PM to 4PM, then choose some pretty hair accessories for yourself. All the cultural representatives in the pavilion will also be wearing kimonos to honor Hinamatsuri. You can even join in the fun by wearing a kimono too (and yes, there are many available for purchase at the pavilion).
So, if you’d like to learn a little more about Girl’s Day and Japanese culture, go and visit the Japan pavilion on March 3rd. You can also celebrate other seasonal festivals throughout the year in the Japan Pavilion by dining at Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya, which changes every season to represent a new festival.
We’ll keep an eye out for more special events in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
