We’re BIG fans of any reason to dress up and celebrate at Disney World, and if you were out at Magic Kingdom recently, you may have found yourself a bit confused if you weren’t in on this particular celebration.
From time to time, Disney offers events where you’re encouraged to dress up, such as during special holiday after-hours parties and the ever-popular Dapper Day. So if you happened to feel like you were stepping into a game of Jumaji on your recent visit to the park, allow us to fill you in!
Visitors at Disneyland and Disney World recently celebrated a special day in the flagship parks. If you found yourself walking around Adventureland and felt like you were missing something due to the crowds and their dressed-up appearances, there was a reason why!
Adventureland Day was celebrated on both coasts on March 3rd, 2024, with everyone invited to participate. The event is unofficial (not sponsored by Disney) and was started by Disney fans who just love Adventureland!
This event has expanded in recent years to include encouraging you to dress up like your favorite part of Adventureland, eat at the restaurants found in the land, ride the classic Adventureland rides together (like Jungle Cruise), AND take part in an exclusive scavenger hunt built for the day!
While we weren’t out in Disneyland this particular day, we did happen to catch the participants walking around Adventureland at Magic Kingdom. Before you can get in on the celebration though, there were a few guidelines to be shared with how to dress for the occasion.
For example, participants couldn’t bring weapons (which is always a rule at the Disney parks), and the outfits had to be bounding, not cosplay. This is to make sure that everyone is still following Disney’s costuming rules.
We spotted so many people walking around dressed like skippers from the Jungle Cruise or wearing outfits that nod to Orange Bird…
…and some people wanted to feature the Enchanted Tiki Room birds, too!
You can find information for this year’s celebration online now on the official Adventureland Day social media channels for both Disneyland and Disney World. If you happen to have missed out this year, you can go ahead and get a jump start on planning for next year already!
We can’t resist a good Disney community event and we hope it brought a smile to your face if you happened to see these folks out as well. Be sure to stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for the latest in Disney news, updates, and more!
