Calling all Pirates of the Caribbean fans!
Whether you are a fan of the films or the Pirates of the Caribbean rides in Disney Parks, this news is sure to be exciting. There’s currently a Pirates of the Caribbean-style theme park that is in the early stages of development!
Portions of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were filmed in Wallilabou, St. Vincent. Now, developers in St. Vincent want to capitalize on being a filming location for the movies, so they’re building a pirate theme park!
According to the St. Vincent Times, “Tourists and locals alike are expected to get a sense of the set used by Captain Jack Sparrow in the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean film, which was shot in Wallilabou, St Vincent, by 2025.” This sounds like the theme park will take inspiration from some of the sets that were built in St. Vincent for the movie.
St.Vincent’s Minister of Tourism, Carlos James, said that this project will start construction this year in 2024. He also said that this project will help boost tourism in the future.
While this is super exciting news, we noticed that there is no mention of a partnership with Disney or that Disney has agreed to license the rights to the films. It has been said that “the design concept will incorporate the Pirates of the Caribbean movie motif.” This sounds more like it will be a pirate theme park that will use inspiration from the movies and sets, but you might not see those Disney-owned IP aspects in the park, like Jack Sparrow.
This park is set to have a “state-of-the-art themed park, restaurant, a full-on area, a pool, and, naturally, beach access for persons coming by sea.” We think the location could be near a cruise ship dock since they are looking for a location that could accommodate “persons coming by sea.”
No concept art has been released quite yet, which leaves us to our imagination! We hope that this park includes pirate-themed rides. Could you imagine being in charge of captaining a pirate ship through the seas? This could be a similar experience to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run but make it pirate-themed! Could this park have its own iteration of the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean ride? We have seen different iterations of the ride across the globe, like in Shanghai so St. Vincent’s theme park could potentially craft their own boat ride.
The announcement said that the theme park is hoping to have a pool, which makes us wonder if there will also be a resort or a water park for guests to enjoy. It would be fun to get to immerse yourself in the pirate experience by staying at a themed hotel near the theme park.
There are so many possibilities for what this park could look like. We will keep you updated when concept art and more details are released!

Disney needs to stop using every trick to keep the public coming to their parks or movies, using POTC or Johnny’s name as clickbait.
You sunk your own ship.
