I travel to Disney World SO many times a year that I can’t even keep count. No, seriously!
I’m lucky in the sense that I have a very strange, very cool job working here at DFB. This job just so happens to result in me sitting on an airplane somewhere between Texas and Orlando A LOT. If I had to guess, I’d say I visit Disney World maybe 20 times a year? But I’d have to do some serious math to figure it out! Anyway, today I’m spilling a major secret with you. You’ve maybe heard the words “boyfriend air” floating ominously somewhere online, but I’m here to scare you with two new phenomena — theme park air and airplane air. Traveling can be SO harsh on your skin, but don’t panic –I’m here to save the day with a few recommendations!
No one should be panicking over a breakout in that iconic Cinderella Castle pic they paid a gazillion dollars to get! Here are four of my favorite skincare products that have totally saved my skin!
Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser
The first step in my skincare routine may be avant garde, but I highly suggest finding a friend who’s more into skincare than you and then copying their routine. (Yes, that’s step one!!) Everyone has different skin types and different products that will work for them, but I stayed in one of those amazing Royal Rooms recently at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort-Riverside with DFB Milly. I tried out her recommend products, and upon seeing the noticeable difference in my skin despite our differing skin types, IMMEDIATELY stocked up!
Luckily, step one’s complete because I’ll be that friend for you! The first thing I want to do after a long flight is wash my face and get rid of that dirty airplane air feeling (you know the one)! This cleanser seems to instantly brighten my face and make me feel SO much better. It helps get rid of that oily, dirty feeling and makes me feel like I have a cleaner, better version of my normal skin. My real skin, but better! It especially does the job after a loooong day in the parks where you’re sweating in the Orlando sun!
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid Moisturizing Toner
Listen, take it from me — toner will CHANGE your life! It’s difficult to find the right one when you’re new to the idea of balancing out and protecting your skin. A lot of toners feel … alcoholic. They can feel very sterile and drying, and I don’t like that feeling! Who would? This toner is a moisturizing toner, so it feels very soft and luxurious and makes my skin feel happy rather than stripped of nutrients. It really gives your skin that glow that you want from skincare!
Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream
OKAY, Y’ALL! THIS is the kind of product that you cut open with scissors when you’re running out of it and keep scraping your money’s worth out of. It’s that good. This moisturizing cream acts as a barrier for your skin and really locks in that moisture! It’s the perfect base for the rest of my skincare and makeup routine.
Dr.G Medi UV Ultra Up Sun Plus, SPF 50+ PA+++ 50ml
Forget your packing cubes, Minnie Ears, Google searches of “what shoes should I be wearing to Disney World” … THIS is the most important thing you should be thinking about when planning your Disney vacay. SPF. That Orlando sun is NO JOKE! Especially in EPCOT, which seems to take a firm stance against shade via trees. This SPF has been my tried and true sunscreen. Sunscreen can feel oily, icky, and all sorts of things nobody wants to feel ever, especially in Disney World. This sunscreen does not do any of those evil, sabotaging things! It doesn’t break me out, it doesn’t create a white cast, and it leaves me feeling refreshed and glowy! There’s no tint to it — it’s white — but it perfectly blends into my skin.
And there you have it! I like to keep it simple and let my skin be skin! Of course, the most important product is the product that works for YOU, and the product that you’ll actually use. This is just what works for me! Be sure to follow along for more Disney advice and news so that you’re always in the loop!
