Disney CEO Bob Iger had a meeting on March 5th with analysts at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference.

In that meeting, Iger discussed a variety of topics concerning the Walt Disney Company. From the theme parks to a new video game universe, Iger explained that the company is officially in the building phase. Within all of the information he discussed, we noticed a quick statement that has gotten our hopes up.
During the meeting, Iger mentioned that Disney has enough land for 7 more parks around the world and they are working on 3 new Disney Cruise Line ships. Expansions and cruises are in the future of Disney, as we’ve known since the company put aside $60 billion for it.

Well, one Disney park resort is currently in the process of getting an expansion and updates — Disneyland Resort. The Disneyland Forward project is working on changing the land use around Disneyland. They’re working to change areas such as parking lots into usable land for entertainment and park experiences.

While plans are in the works for expansions at the Disneyland Resort, some light was shed on the idea during the meeting. According to Iger, a potential new Avatar land could be coming to Disneyland! Iger stated, “We have one Avatar-based land, Pandora, in Florida. We’re going to put a second one in California.” Similar to what was created in Disney’s Animal Kingdom park in Disney World, could make its way to California.

Not only is he thinking California needs its own Pandora, but he went on to say, “That doesn’t mean we can’t put one somewhere in Asia or somewhere in Europe, for instance.” It sounds like Avatar could be making its way around the globe!

Disneyland Forward is still in the development stages and has yet to be approved, but when it moves forward we’ll be sure to keep you updated! We’re keeping our eyes peeled for information and signs of new expansions and experiences around all the Disney parks.

I am glad that during the next decade (being realistic) a couple of Avatar lands could arrive around the world. Just don’t make another Dumbo style spinner ride based on Avatar. Bring in Joe Rohde to guide the creative direction for ANYTHING Avatar related.
