Disney World is full of fun secrets and surprises!
For example, we were recently just selected to pick the Director’s Hat of The Day over in Magic Kingdom! There is magic all around in the parks and sometimes you might not even realize that rides and restaurants have hidden details and secret backstories!
Only at Disney World could eating get even more magical and interesting! Some restaurants are more than just a place to eat at and have hidden lore behind them! Here are five restaurants that have hidden secrets in Disney World!
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar
In Disney Springs you will find Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar. This bar, if you cannot tell from the name, is designed after an airplane hangar. Who is Jock Lindsey? He is a seaplane pilot in the Indiana Jones film Raiders of the Lost Ark.
So how did he get his own bar inside of Disney Springs? He was on his way searching for the Fountain of Youth and thought it would be the perfect place to set up shop. Did you know that there is even a special Fountain of Youth drink you can order?
Throughout the bar, you can find pieces of memorabilia from adventures that Jock went on throughout his career. If you sit at the bar you might notice some oil stains. Those are from Jock working on various projects, you might even spot his handprint!
If you check in the back corner of the bar you might spot something shiny! If you look closely it is the Fertility Idol that Indy was looking for in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
If you have dined outside you might have noticed a boat that looks a whole lot like a boat on the Jungle Cruise. This boat is named Reggie. Why? It is a nod to Jock’s pet reptile, Reggie. We know how Indy feels about certain reptiles!
Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto
Speaking of bars, let’s head over to a very popular bar over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Here you can find Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. This bar is PACKED with fun and hidden secrets!
Did you know that the skippers at Trader Sam’s are cousins to the Jungle Cruise Skippers over at Magic Kingdom? It makes sense since they work at Trader Sam’s bar, and he has his own gift shop at the end of the Jungle Cruise. We will be honest, they’re not actually related, it is just all part of the storytelling!
Inside Trader Sam’s you can find a repurposed animatronic! On the back wall, there is Uh-Oa. She comes to life at certain times throughout the night, but she was not always inside of this bar! Her first home was inside of the Magic Kingdom in Adventureland! You used to be able to see her at the Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management).
This attraction is now defunct and runs as the normal Enchanted Tiki Room show. We are glad she was able to find a new home over at the Polynesian Village!
Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen
We are seeing an adventurous pattern here! In Adventureland, you can dine at Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen. This restaurant is also filled with lore. Have you heard of S.E.A.? Because we want to become members ASAP! There are three main dining rooms inside of Skipper Canteen, they are the Crew Mess Hall, the Falls Family Parlor, and a once-hidden meeting room for the S.E.A.
To get to the S.E.A. meeting dining room, you must go through a hallway from the Mess Hall. You may notice some bookshelves while you are passing through. This bookshelf actually used to hide the meeting room back when S.E.A. was using it.
If you look closely, you may spot some interesting book titles. Most of the books found on these shelves have a Disney nod to them, because why wouldn’t they? There are so many books to go through, so we will share our favorite one with you! You may notice that one book looks a little out of place, and that book is The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. We can only assume that this is the book that members of S.E.A. would use to pull down and gain entry into their private meeting room!

Pizza al Taglio
When you are traveling the world in EPCOT, you might want to try some authentic Italian pizza over in the Italy Pavilion! Getting a slice is even easier when you order at Pizza al Taglio!
Pizza al Taglio is right next to Via Napoli. Here you can get delicious slices of pizza without needing a table service reservation, you can simply just stop at the pizza pick-up window. While you are in the World Showcase, you might be able to show off your Italian skills by translating what “Pizza al Taglio” means to your party!
The meaning of Pizza al Taglio is quite literal! It translates to “pizza by the slice.” You can tell that this is a very clever name since this pizza window literally sells pizza by the slice!
So the next time you are in EPCOT make sure to lay a little knowledge on your party!
Space 220
You can dine in SPACE in Disney World! That’s right, over in EPCOT you can take a trip up to Space and dine at Space 220. The dining room has picturesque views of space. You can catch different scenes playing out while you eat.
There is one scene that has a special Star Wars nod. Sometimes the astronauts will pull out their Lightsabers and have a Lightsaber battle in space. It makes sense that astronauts love Star Wars!
There is also a rare scene that only takes place at the windows at the end. There is a Space Dog! If you want a chance to see this good dog in its space suit then request a table towards the end of the dining room!
We always love finding hidden details and secrets inside Disney World restaurants! You can dine over and over again and still find new details!

A few years ago we ate at Cape May Cafe in the Beach Club Resort and were the family of the day. We sat at the main table and got to ring the dinner bell to begin the dining. Don’t know if this is still done today.
