BIG things are happening in Disneyland.

Of course, you probably already know about the construction that’s transforming Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. You might even know about the big Haunted Mansion queue makeover that’s happening RIGHT NOW. Recently, Tarzan’s Treehouse became Adventureland Treehouse, too. But there’s ANOTHER new change happening at the parks, and this is one you’ll see immediately when you enter the parks.

We recently told you about some new permits Disney filed for both Disneyland and California Adventure for a project totaling $4.8 million. These permits were created to update the entrance gates and turnstiles at Disneyland’s entrances. These new gates will be automatic and will open after a park ticket is scanned and validated. They will also be ADA-compliant for easy access for ECVs, wheelchairs, and strollers.

Well, we recently visited Disney California Adventure and saw that a model of the new park entry gate has been added to the entrance. The new gate features a screen with what seems to be a barcode scanner below, as well as a MagicBand+ tap point.

According to The Orange County Register, Disneyland Arrival Experience General Manager Kevin Gidden said in a statement, “The test entry gate installed at Disney California Adventure park will enable our teams to get hands-on experience that will help inform the final install beginning later this year.”

After construction begins later this year, Disneyland will only be building one turnstile bank at a time to keep from creating issues for visitors to the parks. A total of 62 new gates are expected to be added at the resort. California Adventure will be getting the new gates first, followed by Disneyland.

Cast Members will be available at each gate to make sure tickets are valid and help with any issues, should they arise. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.
