Travel warnings, inflated prices, and massive flight delays are all happening now. That can only mean one thing: it’s spring break season. You’ve probably heard the warnings. You may have even seen the viral Miami Beach tweet about $100 parking and strict law enforcement presence during spring break. It’s a busy time of year!
Ever heard the expression, “Do as we say, not as we do.” Well, we’re gonna admit it. We traveled through Orlando Airport during the spring break chaos. Yes, we knew what we were getting into. Yes, we heard the warnings. But still, the Orlando Airport — and our AIRLINE — shared some clear messages about what we should expect.
We had a flight scheduled with Breeze Airways smack dab in the middle of spring break season. The good news is that Breeze had our backs. We got a text ahead of our departure that read, “TSA wait times may be longer than usual tomorrow. Please arrive 2 hours before your departure time to clear security or use RESERVE to reserve a spot in line beforehand.”
That wasn’t all. We got a push notification with the same message! OK, so it’s gonna be busy. Noted. But all that talk about RESERVE got us thinking. So, we clicked the link (after making sure it was legitimate and NOT a scam, of course) and reserved ourselves a spot in line.
The Orlando International Airport offers a service called MCO Reserve, a reservation system that allows you to check in and go through security at a pre-selected time. MCO Reserve uses a faster, exclusive line that bypasses the normal TSA line. Oh, and it’s FREE. Make sure to select your reservation slot at least 72 hours before your flight. You can reserve your spot at reserve.clearme.com.
Once you enter your travel information, you can schedule your appointment time. This is where you can select the time you estimate you’ll arrive at the airport and get to security.
From there, we added our passenger information…
…and confirmed our appointment! Easy, right?
Booking these appointments can help you save a LOT of time at the airport — especially when it’s a busy time of year! We hope this helps make your next trip through MCO a little easier, and check out our post on how to make your visit less stressful.
Moral of the story? If your airline is telling you (in all kinds of ways) that it’s going to be BUSY, trust them! Do whatever you can to avoid a mad rush to your gate. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
