Does it matter what you wear to Disney World?
Well, as a matter of fact, sometimes it does. For example, there’s a reason we always tell you to keep a poncho or raincoat in your day bag. The shoes you wear will make a HUGE difference, too — the last thing you want are sneakers. It’s especially important to choose your clothes wisely in the summer once the temperatures start creeping up and we’re going to tell you why.
So we’re going to share a little story with you about the day we wore a denim shirt to the parks. Now this can probably go for jeans, too, because denim is probably the absolute WORST thing you can wear to Disney World in the summer. Sure, that denim shirt might look cute when it’s cooler in the morning, but we were sweating by the time noon rolled around. SERIOUSLY sweating. Ew. You’ll also sweat everywhere else if you wear jeans, too.
There’s something else about denim, too. Imagine you’re going to ride Kali River Rapids. So you should already know you are going to get SOAKED. But what you may not be thinking about is that your clothes will also get soaked. Do you know what kind of fabric takes the LONGEST to dry? Yep…DENIM. You’ll be running around in wet jeans for the rest of the day and that’s just not comfortable. This could also happen when one of those freak Florida thunderstorms comes out of nowhere.
Now don’t get us wrong: denim is actually not too bad during those few months when it’s cooler in Florida, but they’re still not that comfy, are they? Instead, we’ve got a few suggestions on what to wear instead. We found some good alternatives on Amazon to make it easy for you, and if you don’t have Amazon Prime, you can sign up for a free trial below:
Get the Women’s Tennis Dress
You will stay cooler in something like this tennis dress, which has built-in shorts and a bra (fewer layers will keep you cooler, too!). You could throw a cute tee over it or wear it as is, meaning it’s very versatile. Also, did we mention that it HAS POCKETS?
Buy the Slit Flare Tennis Dress
Want something with a bit more…flare? This tennis dress has a fun asymmetrical flare in the front but also has built-in shorts (with pockets). It’s even got a square neckline if that’s more your thing. Even better? These dresses are made to wick sweat away from your body.
Get the 3-Pack Slip Shorts
If you’ve got a favorite dress or skirt you would like to wear to the parks, you’ll need slip shorts (trust us on this one — we’ve learned this lesson the hard way). These are nice and light PLUS you get three pairs! Slip shorts are also great for preventing chafing.
So skip the denim and opt for lighter wear. And stay tuned to DFB for more!
