Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is coming to BOTH Disney World and Disneyland Resort! Get ready to go on down the bayou with Tiana and Louis in a newly reimagined version of the old Splash Mountain attraction. We know a LOT of the details about this ride, but there is still so much we can’t WAIT to see when the ride opens.
So, speaking of opening, we know that the ride will open at Walt Disney World in the summer of 2024! That’s VERY soon. We’ve been keeping our eyes on the exterior construction for a loooong time, and over in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is looking AMAZING! But what about Disney World’s West Coast companion, a.k.a. the Disneyland version of the same ride? Well, let’s take a look at the current construction progress!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in both Disneyland park and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom this year! As we mentioned, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in Disney World in the summer of 2024, and “later in 2024” in Disneyland. We still don’t have an exact opening date for either park quite yet, but we’re keeping our eyes and ears open for updates. If you need a little reminder, here’s a preview of what the completed attraction will look like.
Disney revealed that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”
The story of the attraction picks up during the New Orleans Carnival season, and Tiana is hosting a Mardi Gras Party for the people of New Orleans — the community that has supported her successful restaurant. But — oh no — Tiana realized that the party is “missing a key ingredient,” and she needs help finding it. That’s where WE come in. (Side note: look how much the concept art CHANGED from the original image Disney shared!)
Additionally, Disney also shared that PJ Morton (a Grammy Award-Winning musician) will be creating a NEW original song for the ride. Get ready to add a NEW song to your playlist!
Now, let’s talk about the exterior. Disney explained that Tiana wants to further bring the community together as she continues to grow her business, so she started an employee-owned company called Tiana’s Foods. As part of her mission, she’s bought and transformed an old large salt dome (the mountain!). So what you’re looking at is no longer a mountain but instead a salt dome! Here’s a look at the salt dome in Disneyland. It’s coming along, eh?
Here’s a closer look at the top of the salt dome. Do you see what we see? There are FLOWERS on the exterior — FINALLY!
ENHANCE! When you look closely, you can see all the new greenery. Pretty, right?
For comparison, here’s a look at the Disney World version of the salt dome. As you can see, it’s a little further along.
We’re so happy to see Disneyland making some real progress on the attraction! We’ll be sure to check back for more NEW details. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
