Did you know there are plenty of things to do in Disney World outside of the regular snacks, rides, and entertainment offerings?
One of our favorite things to do is check out limited-time events in Disney Springs. Often, this area of the property will be home to special entertainment or dining experiences that are only available for a limited time. Recently, I made a trip to Disney Springs for a NEW event where I got to eat some delicious food and meet a celebrity chef!
EET in Disney Springs is hosting a brand-new event called “Greet, Meet, and EET with Chef Maneet Chauhan” on select dates from now through July. I was invited out to go to the first of these meet and greet events on March 19th, and I’m here to give you the full rundown of what it was like!
The event started at 5PM, and I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes ahead of time. Once there, I checked in with an employee and we were led to the sunroom, where two long tables were set up for dining.
The places were each set with a menu that Maneet Chauhan designed and cooked. We were given small plates and silverware for the first few courses before the main course.
The menu for the first evening included five courses. We started out with some appetizers, had a short rib for the main course, and then rounded out with sorbet followed by dessert. Some of the courses were paired with beverages as well.
The first thing Maneet brought around was the garbanzo puff Pani Puri. This is a form of Indian street food, and you can find this item on the menu at the restaurant. I really loved the fresh flavors here along with the crunchy texture — it’s incredibly unique in the best way.
Also part of the first course was the EET Bread Service, which I tried previously on the opening day of the restaurant. It comes with several pieces of naan, as well as five dipping sauces and pimiento whipped paneer. Delicious as always!
The third part of the first course was the puffed rice mixed with chutneys. It’s topped with both mango and mint chutneys, and then shaken with the lid on the dish to mix it all together really well. This had a great mix of textures!
Finally, we rounded out the first course with the Stuffed Crispy Potato Croquettes. These were delicious and soft, with just the right amount of chew, and served with garbanzo beans on the side. But be warned, they were a bit spicy!
After that, we moved on to the second course, which consisted of these Coconut Crab Cakes with 5 Spice Mango and Chutney Slaw. The crab cakes were soft with just a bit of chew on the outside, and the slaw added a fruity brightness to the dish overall. This was one of my favorites!
But the REAL star of the night? The main course! For course 3, we got the Beef Short Rib served with grits. This was a top-five Disney World meal for me! The short rib was tender and savory, the veggies had some nice textures, and the grits were deliciously smooth and cheesy. I would love to see this on the menu all the time!
After that, it was time for course 4 — the palette cleanser. This was a simple lime sorbet, but it was fruity and creamy and definitely yummy.
We rounded out the meal with dessert, which was a Mango Yogurt Lassi Parfait. I definitely give this a 10/10 for presentation, and the bites that I had of it were smooth and very mango-forward. I couldn’t finish it though, because by this point in the night, I was absolutely stuffed!
Beverages were included in the meal, and some courses had special alcohol pairings. As a non-drinker, I asked for alternate options and they were very accommodating. I got both a Margarita Mocktail and a Lemon Mango Turmeric Sparkling Water in place of the cocktails.Â
Throughout the night, Maneet came around and spoke to each of us, sharing stories from her time on the Food Network, her childhood in India, and her adventures in the kitchen. She was absolutely delightful to talk to, and I felt like I really connected with the food thanks to her expertise.
Tickets to this dinner are $250 per person and can be purchased on the restaurant’s website. The following dates are still available to book:
- May 13th
- June 17th
- July 22nd
