The hours for one popular Disney World ride are CHANGING soon!
Disney adjusted the opening times for this ride due to Daylight Savings Time, and those changes gave us MORE time to ride. However, soon the hours will go back to normal, which means you’ll have a little less time to get on this popular Animal Kingdom attraction.
Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a popular ride that takes you on a real-life safari through the Harambe Wildlife Reserve! Because the ride has real animals, it usually closes early in order to accommodate the animals’ schedules. Plus, it’s not that fun to go on a safari after the sun goes down, when you can’t actually see any animals 😂.
When Daylight Savings Time hit on March 10th, the Safaries updated its hours, and instead of closing at 5:45PM, it closed at 6:45PM! This closing time will remain through March 30th.
Starting on March 31st, we’ll actually get MORE time to ride, as it’ll close at 7PM for a limited time. Then, starting on April 7th, the ride will close at 6PM. Right now, it looks like this 6PM closing time will continue through most of May as well.
That means we’re losing almost an hour of ride time. However, note that Kilimanjaro Safaris’ hours change pretty frequently, so it’s a good idea to check the Disney World website before your trip to make sure that nothing has changed!
It’s important to know that Kilimanjaro Safaris usually has different hours than Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom will be open from 8AM to 8PM throughout the rest of March. You can see the full March calendar here:
In April, the park will be open from 8AM to 8PM from April 1st through the 5th, 8AM to 7PM from the 6th through the 13th, and 9AM to 6PM for the rest of the month. You can see the full April calendar here:
Disney updates the calendar and changes park hours periodically, so keep in mind that these hours might change soon! When and if the Animal Kingdom hours change, it’s possible that the Kilimanjaro Safaris hours will change, too.
The best way to stay up-to-date on the park and ride hours is to keep checking the My Disney Experience app. There’s a page showing park hours on the app, and you can find it by going to your profile (click the stack three little horizontal lines on the bottom menu) and scrolling down to the “Plan Your Next Visit” section. Click on “Park Hours & Info”…
…and then just select the date that you need!
You can click the “Today” tab at the top to see times for popular events, like fireworks and parades.
Of course, we’ll also keep you updated on any major changes, so stay tuned to DFB for all the Disney updates!
